Dear Friends . . . Am reviewing some back notes and I wanted to get caught up with you. I am desc. from Gov Wm Bradford > Major Wm & his bro Joseph > their sons Israel & Elisha (1st cousins) > their children, 2nd cousins Joshua Bradford who marr. Hannah Bradford > had Joseph Bradford m. Abigail Starling > Huldah Bradford m. Benjamin Butler > Capt. Ebenezer C. Butler > Sarah Butler M. Ephraim Palmer (1828-1892) > he is my g. gf. John Tallman is desc. from the second wife of Gov. Wm. from Bradford, Alice Carpenter, via her 1st husband, Edw. Southworth. John also relates to me his Snow connection of Abigail Carey, her husband John field, his parents, etc. back to Peter Browne. Much good research, and congrats to all J In edition to my Bradford connection outlined above, I also go back to some Snow’s in Providence . . . but as Ernie well knows, I am seriously stuck. Ephraim M. Palmer (1828-1892 see below) line goes back to Lt. William Palmer, who the books say was 4 when he came on the Fortune in 1621 with his father William, mother Frances, and two siblings. Ephraim’s parents were: Thomas Force Palmer (1787 NJ -1865 IL) son of Ephraim Palmer (1760-1852) & Margaret Force. TFP marr. May 30, 1815 at Broadalbin, Montgomery Co.(1838 became Fulton Co.), NY to: Rebeckah Snow. b. Providence RI Oct 1, 1790; d. Oct 26, 1854, IL. Rebeckah is a complete dead end for me, in spite of a visit to the Providence RI historical society, inquiries to Gary Boyd Roberts at NEGHS, etc, and many years on the Snow surname list. My daughter’s name is Rebeckah Snow Burrows! It hasn’t helped! L I am hoping maybe you or others in the Mayflower group can help. The only other clues which I have are: In 1820 TFP and his wife Rebeckah lived Warsaw, Genessee Co., NY (1841 became Wyoming Co.) with small children. The next census line below lists Samuel Snow! Wife and small children. I think that this Samuel must be her brother. So I have been looking for a Snow family with at least two children, a Rebeckah b. 1790 Providence, and a Samuel, prob. also b. Providence about the same time. And of course possibly other children born around the same time and place. TFP and Rebeckah named their daughters oddly I think . . . Margaret McCoon Palmer (1816-1834) never m. Lydia Hubbard Palmer (1817-1903) m. Orrin Gridley Joseph Snow Palmer (1819-1892) m. Cynthia Parker Chloe Allen Palmer (1825-1894) m. Noah Post Ephraim Milo Palmer (1828-1892) m. Sarah Butler (see her line to Gov Bradford above) Only child of Eph. & Sarah was my g.f., Walter Butler Palmer. Except for Ephraim, these names do not connect in any way to the Palmer side, and I have to think that they are Rebeckah’s ancestors. Likely her father was a Joseph Palmer, and her mother and possibly two grand mothers the women’s names. Only conjecture, and I have found nothing to lead me to draw a firm conclusion. I believe there is a Joseph Palmer at Galway, NY in the 1810 census. I need to look for this again, but think that I thought at one time he should be Rebeckah’s father. Galway is quite close to where she was married in 1815, Broadalbin. Further thoughts are most welcome. Does anyone researching Snow see these names anywhere? Any other helpful ideas would be greatly appreciated. Peter Burrows, Annapolis, MD
