NICHOLAS4 SNOW III (NICHOLAS3, NICHOLAS2, 1) was born January 18, 1600 in Hoxton, Middlesex, England, and died November 15, 1676 in Eastham, Massaachusetts. He married CONSTANCE HOPKINS May 22, 1627 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, daughter of Stephen Hopkins. Notes "Cape Cod Series Volumn 1" by Leon Clark Hills, 1936 pp 126 and 129 Nicolas Snow was one of those who arrived at Plymouth in the "Anne" in the year 1623, he received a share of land in Plymouth in 1624, and was married before 1627. He became a freeman and tax payer of Plymouth in 1633 and for a number of years was a man of note in that place. In April 1644, he and six other prominent men of Plymouth began the Settlement of Eastham (Nauset) across the bay from Plymouth. From the beginning Nicolas Snow became an important person in that place. He was a deputy and selectman for a number of years. In 1646, it was enacted by the Court that every Town within the Government 'shall have a clerk or some one appointed to keep a register of the day and year of the marriage, birth and burial of every man, woman and child within the Township.' Eastham immediately appointed Nicolas Snow to this important office. He held the office for sixteen years, 1662, at which time his son, Mark Snow succeeded him.
