I have a Joseph and Samuel both, but not in NY so far. Thanks Jo >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dear Jo . . . Here is what I do have . . . . Rebeckah Snow b. Oct 1, 1790 Providence RI Names of her parents unknown. I think her father's name may have been Joseph . . . only because she named her first son Joseph Snow Palmer. Rebeckah's family apparently moved to NY sometime between 1790-1815 and . . . May 30, 1815 at Broadalbin, Montgomery Co. NY (in 1838 this became Fulton Co.) she married to Thomas Force Palmer (b. 1787 NJ) whose family had come to Galway, Saratoga Co. NY. These two towns are a very short distance apart. Thomas F. Palmer (I have extensive info on his family & ancestors) & Rebeckah Snow died and are buried at Prairie Center, LaSalle Co. IL 1865 & 1854 and had six children, all born in NY . . . . Margaret McCoon (sp?) Palmer b. 1816 prob. Galway NY. D. unmarr Chatham OH 1832 Lydia Hubbard Palmer b. 1817 NY marr 1839 Orrin Gridley prob. Chatham OH. She died 1903 poss Clear Lake IA. I have names of her children and am researching (with difficulty) her descendants. Joseph Snow Palmer, b. 1819 at Warsaw, Genesse Co. NY (in 1841 this became Wyoming Co), marr. OH 1845, bur at Prairie Center, IL. I have names of his children and am researching descendants, with some luck. Eliza Ann Palmer b. 1822 at Warsaw. Marr 1841 Lorin A. Williams. Both died IA. All desc. have been traced. Chloe Allen Palmer b. 1825 at Warsaw. Marr 1854 Noah Post. All desc. have been traced. Ephraim Milo Palmer b. 1828 Conewango, Cattauragus Co. NY. marr Prairie Center IL 1858 Sarah H. Butler. All desc. have been traced. No desc. so far located know anything of their Palmer/Snow ancestors this far back. None of the above children's names except for Ephraim seem to relate in any way to the family of Thomas F. Palmer. So I have struggled with the source of these names, hoping that they would provide clues to the names of Rebeckah's parents. So far not too much luck. Still, I remained convinced that they must relate to Rebeckah's ancestors. I found in the 1820 Warsaw NY federal census, living next door to Thomas F. Palmer and his wife, Rebeckah Snow Palmer is SAMUEL SNOW. He has a wife and small children. I have assumed that this Samuel was a brother of Rebeckah. I have yet to find anyne possibly desc. from this Samuel Snow listed in the 1820 Warsaw census. And so briefly that is about all that I know. I went to Providence RI and did research into the family of William Snow, a resident there with an extensive family history at the Prov. Historical Society, but this search did not bear fruit at this point. Your further ideas are welcome. Peter Burrows, Annapolis MD (800) 521-6211.
