SNOW in the SNOW achives and the discovery of a son Archy O. SNOW My problem is I have an "O. A. SNOW" in Metropolis, IL., who could be my greatfather??? According to census reports for the city of Metropolis, IL., County of Massac he is supposed to come from NY staten and possible VT. The son referenced above die in 1882 in Easton, MA . The initials could have been switched but my "O. A." was listed in 1880 census and it hard for me to think that the referenced Archy O. SNOW could leave two teenagers alone in Metropolis , IL., and returned to MA to die, one of the boys is my grandfather. I have searched the internet many times for an "O. A. SNOW" and this as close as I have ever come to, with no favorable results. Since there were two Otis A. SNOW mentioned. Could have the second one (or son of Otis A. SNOW who was born in 1838 be the father of my great aunt born in 1856). Can you help resolve this mystery, have you any clues that might help me??? Hoping to hear from you soon, Regards, Frank P. SNOW >> Dear Frank . . . don;t think that I can be of much help, but as you see from my recent note, my SNOW FAMILY first generation I know of was Rebeckah Snow, born Providence RI Oct 1, 1790. I do not know who her parents were, nor any siblings, except possibly a brother Samuel. Her father may have been Joseph. So I do not have any SNOW connections in Illinois. I am a long time member of the LaSalle Couty Illinois Genealogy Society, there are two other members researching SNOW: Larene Wise, 2245 N. 3450 Road, Ottawa IL 61350 Dr. Vernon F. Snow, Ville de MarcoWest, 1202 Edington Place, Apt B-401, Marco Is. FL I do not know if either subscribe to the Snow-L, but I have not seen anything on the list from them, so possibly a letter to each might be a start. Hope that this helps.
