Has anyone followed the Dorchester Co., Maryland Snow family? Mary (Andrew)Snow made a will in 24 Sept. 1773 and it was proved 11 April 1774 in Dorchester Co., Md. Children were: William, Rebecker, Sarah, Obediah, Thomas, Henry, Cuthbert, and John.(Mary Snow's husband William died c 1769 in Dorchester Co., Md. ) A Cuthbert Snow was in Gloucester Co., Va. in Petsworth Parish in 1784. A John Snow in Gloucester Co., Va. in Ware Parish. Look at proximity of Gloucester Co., Va. and Dorchester Co., Maryland by water. Most of these seem to have left Maryland. Does anyone have knowledge of where they went, their spouses, etc.? Thanks!

You inquired about Ebenezer and Frost being related. What is interesting is that I believe Ebenezer's wife Sarah "Sally" Wicker's parents and some family members moved to Jackson Mo in the early 1800's about 1807 and they are buried there in the Old Bethel Baptist Cem. just outside Jackson Mo. I have not proven Sarah's lineage yet but Robert Wicker had a dau who was born in 1761 in NC and that is the year Ebenezer's wife was born. This is very interesting. Hello Snow cousins, The Shiflet Genealogy Website has recently been blessed with a diary written by Thomas Ephiram Shifflet in 1916. Thomas E. was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Lamb Shifflet, both born in VA. Thomas and Elizabeth left Albemarle Co., VA for Madison Co., KY, where Thomas was born in 1840. By 1916, the Thomas E. family had left KY and was in IL. In one of the early entries, Thomas E. refers to "grandpa and grandma Snow". "Grandpa and Grandma Snow" are buried in the McLean Co. Cemetery, in McLean, IL. >From cemetery information, the researcher was able to indentify this Snow couple: John L. Snow b. 2/14/1835 d. 2/1/1920 (and his wife) Elizabeth Swearingen b. 10/20/1837 d. 9/9/1920. Their daughter, Amanda Louise (Tiny) Snow b. 9/20/1878 d. 1947, m. Levi (Ship) Shifflet, son of Thomas E. >From the dates, it is likely that John L. Snow's parents were the ones who migrated out of VA, possibly with Thomas E.'s parents. He married CONSTANCE HOPKINS May 22, 1627 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, daughter of Stephen Hopkins. Notes "Cape Cod Series Volumn 1" by Leon Clark Hills, 1936 pp 126 and 129 Nicolas Snow was one of those who arrived at Plymouth in the "Anne" in the year 1623, he received a share of land in Plymouth in 1624, and was married before 1627. He became a freeman and tax payer of Plymouth in 1633 and for a number of years was a man of note in that place. In April 1644, he and six other prominent men of Plymouth began the Settlement of Eastham (Nauset) across the bay from Plymouth. From the beginning Nicolas Snow became an important person in that place. He was a deputy and selectman for a number of years. In 1646, it was enacted by the Court that every Town within the Government 'shall have a clerk or some one appointed to keep a register of the day and year of the marriage, birth and burial of every man, woman and child within the Township.' Eastham immediately appointed Nicolas Snow to this important office. He held the office for sixteen years, 1662, at which time his son, Mark Snow succeeded him. With all these Frost SNOW's running loose, did anyone come across one that moved to TN before coming to MO???? My gggrandfather came from NC?, moved to TN, married Parlee (Parley, Pearlea) Morgan, then moved to MO. He's buried in the Newtonia Civil War Cemetery in Newton County. He was b in 1808 and d 2/7/1888. Children are Anderson, Sandford, Eli, Levi, Edmond, Mary, Eliza (had two thumbs on both hands), and Louisa P. (my line). Seems Frost was a very common name to use with Snow. I'v found lots of them, but not the one I'm looking for. Linda Simmons
Can anyone help with this Levi Snow. I am almost certain that he was born in GA and that both of his parents were also born in GA. I have Levi and Matilda in Murray County GA in 1850(I think). Hello, If I may jump in on this conversation, I would like to correct a couple of errors in the facts about the Frost Snow line (my line). Frost Snow Jr. b. c1756 married Elizabeth Ballard in 1783 in Albemarle Co., VA. Frost Snow Sr. b.c1730 married Elizabeth Johnson, daughter of John and Elizabeth Davis Johnson. Their marriage date is unknown but is c 1755. They did not move to Surry Co., NC until 1786/87. The Fortner/Forkner surname given as the wife of (variously) Frost Sr. or Jr. comes from mistaken information that a descendant gave many, many years ago who did indeed have a grandmother named Forkner, but it was not on the Snow side of her family. Over the years, unfortunately, this mistaken information has become accepted as fact. Hi Juanita, I saw your message posted regarding the parents of Sarah "Sally" Wicker. Could you send me what you have found? I would love to follow her line too. I am enclosing here some information regarding Ebenezer. The Snows are 10, 17, 26 and 29. I think #26 is John Snow brother to Ebenezer and father to the Thomas that might be mixed up with the Frost Snow family. The Tennessee professor listed a Thomas as son of Ebenezer and had him as drowned in 1818. The Frost Snow side think this is their Thomas as his children had pass down names from that side. What do you think? Do you have a good verification of Ebenezer Snow and Sarah "Sally" Wicker's children and birthdates and places? Phillip: Elizabeth Snow the dau of Solomon & Mary Coe Snow is my GG grandmother and she marr. Irvin Eldridge Breedlove and was in Newton Co Arkansas by 1854. She had 3 children and in May of 1863 she died in childbirth having twins and she is buried on top of the mountain where they lived. I have visited her grave. She was in Morgan co Tn with her parents in 1850. I do not know where they were marr. but I suspect it was Morgan Co Tn, however I understand the marr. records were destroyed during the Civil War. I am going to Tn next week and I am going to see what I can find. I will keep you posted on my Elizabeth. Who is your Snow family? I am in DAR under Ebenezer Snow and in the Mayflower Society under the same Snow family. We are also going to Plymouth for 5 days while we are on the east coast. Keep in touch.
