He has passed away. I got them at an estate sale. Prominent Cherokees--- Martha Patsy Snow, born Aug. 20, 1813, died Sept. 9, 1877, was the daughter of Benjamin Snow and she applied for a War Pension at Fayetteville, Ark. on account of her father. William Harnage, born june 5, 1813, died July 16, 1880, married Martha Patsy Sano. We found their graves in the Westville, Ark cemetery. Ambrose harnage was married in 1810 to Nancy Sanders, daughter of Captain Alexanders Sanders, and they were the parents of William Harnage, born 1811 shown above. Other children of Ambrose harnage were Geroge , who married Nancy Mayfield--John Griffin, born Jan 16, 1817--died Jan 13, 1891, buried in Tahlequah--Andrew jackson, born June 20. 1818, died May 27, 1847, and Elizabeth born Aug 20, 1820, died May 27, 1847, who married John Adair Bell. Ambrose harnage lived near the Arkansas lin, as Major Ridge stayed all night with him the night before Ridge was killed across the line in Washington County, Arkansas, in 1839. We are researching the SNOWs of Canso, Guysborough Co., Nova Scotia. My GGgrandfather was Henry Snow, b1840, d1881-1891, who we think married Emeline Feltmate, b 6 Jul 1850, and they had Joseph S. Snow and Ollivia C. Snow. We would appreciate any help in this search: especially from "1941 hank" on the yahoo net that posted a message that we do not have authorization to answer. Hi Richard and Marcene, My greatgrandmother Martha SNOW was born in Newton Co, Arkansas in 1861. I looked for your John H and I don't have him listed but it certainly is possible that he is related. Martha's parents were Ahijah SNOW and Barbara CASEY. If you find a connection to this line let me know and we can share info. Jan Colorado

MARCENE2@aol.com on 11/16/98 07:12:37 PM To: Richard D. Jefford II/AM/LLY cc: Subject: Snow connection Richard: I am looking for a john H. Snow who at age 40 married Nancy Oxford age 29 on 18 Oct 1866 in Newton Co. the marriage book says he was from Carroll C. There were several Snow families in Newton in the 60 and 70 census. Could John H. have been visiting family and also wife hunting? I don't find him in the census of Newton so I guess he went back home. Nancy is the one I am looking for. She could be the Nancy Oxford McAgee who came from GA with her husband and was widowed in Newton Co., AR. Maybe she didn't give her married name when she married John H. only her maiden name. Thanks Marcene

Does anyone on the Hubbard, Snow or Palmer list have anything which might connect to this? My thinking is that since Rebeckah Snow & TFP named first daughter Lydia Hubbard Palmer, that this could be the maiden name of Rebeckah's mother (it is not a Palmer name). Ludia's husband might have been Joseph Snow or Samuel Snow or . . . .? We know that Rebeckah had a brother named Samuel Snow, and both families were in Warsaw Co. NY census 1820. Also Rebeckah named her first son Joseph, so possibly Joseph was her father's name. Do any of these names mean anything to anyone on the Hubbard list? FIRST GENERATION Thomas Force Palmer (1787-1865) NJ>NY>OH>IL and his wife Rebeckah Snow (1790-1854) RI>NY>OH>IL, marr May 20, 1815 at Broadalbin, Montgomery Co. NY. This is SW of Saratoga. They then located to western NY: Warsaw, Wyoming Co. where on Aug. 12, 1817 their second child was b., daughter . . . SECOND GENERATION LYDIA HUBBARD PALMER (we know nothing of Rebeckah Snow's parents, and so think that her mother or grandmother might have been a "Lydia Hubbard" . . .? Anyway . . . . Lydia Hubbard Palmer b. NY and she continues the westward treck with her parents to Chatham, Mediana Co., OH by abt 1832, remaining there until about 1842, when her parents move further west to Sugar Grove, Kane Co. IL. In the meantime, on Jun 12, 1839 Lydia marries to ORRIN GRIDLEY. No record of where, but likely Medina Co. OH (possibly Illinois?) Lydia & Orrin locate to Clear Lake, Iowa . . . not sure when, before or after their children? I do not know. Lydia died, likely Clear Lake, IA Dec 22, 1903. I am new to the list and would like to contact Snow researchers working on the same line that I am. It is as follows: Sarah Snow m Samuel Stow, Jr. 19 Dec 1704. From the information I have found, Sarah's father was James Snow b 1642, Woburn, MA, m to Sarah (--------); father Richard Snow b 11 Dec 1608 m to Avis Barrat; father Patrick Snow m Marie Sweate. I am not confident of the documentation for this line, as I have not derived the information from original records. It is not yet proven in my records. Hope to hear from other Snow/Stow researchers. (Talk about tongue-twisters - there are also Stones in this Stow line.) Thank you. Anne Benson

It's an excerpt of the weekly "news letter" sent to contributors and is being posted by me with neither request nor authorization of RootsWeb. I do sincerely hope each of you who reads this post will genuinely ask yourself about the value of RootsWeb to you and act accordingly with voluntary financial support. John Tallman Lookout Mountain, Tennessee _____________________________________________________________________ NEWS AND NOTES FROM ROOTSWEB ROOTSWEB IN OCTOBER -- 61 million hits and 117 million e-mails! Need we say it? RootsWeb has continued to grow. While we are more than pleased by our growth, it is forcing us to upgrade our servers and increase our bandwidth, which in turn severely strains our limited financial resources. If you would like to help RootsWeb grow, please consider becoming a RootsWeb Member or Sponsor. Information about how to do that follows the statistics. Here are the detailed statistics on our October 1998 operations: o 3,264 independently-authored Web sites hosted by RootsWeb. o 61,205,731 total Web hits, of which - 16,107,975 were HTML pages; - 9,252,813 were cgi-bin database searches and such; and - 35,844,943 were graphics (GIFs, JPEGs, etc.). o 1,223,214 file downloads from the USGenWeb Archives and the ROOTS-L Library. o 4,686 independently-operated mailing lists hosted by RootsWeb. o 117,570,146 pieces of e-mail shipped to our mailing lists. RootsWeb is supported primarily by users like you -- your contributions keep us alive. If you would like to become a RootsWeb Member or Sponsor (the cost is very modest) please visit: <http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/how-to- subscribe.html>. Support from the Internet genealogical community is crucial to RootsWeb's operation. Contributions that we can employ to upgrade our servers are essential for us to be able to continue bringing more genealogical Web sites and mailing lists online. . . . thanks to everyone who participates in RootsWeb. Clearly folks are continuing to exchange a great deal of information. * * * ROOTSWEB DOES NOT SELL ITS MAILING LISTS. RootsWeb received the following letter last week: "My company, PARADIGM List Management, has developed an expertise in the marketing of information (registered customer databases, online subscribers, names with postal addresses, and e-mails) that is sourced from the Web. We market this information through traditional marketing channels for direct mail & targeted e-mail purposes. We currently represent many high profile sites in this capacity generating a significant source of incremental revenue for the sites. Who can I contact at Rootsweb to discuss our services?" ### Dr. Brian Leverich responded: "I'm one of the owners of RootsWeb, and it is true that we have extremely clean mailing lists for hundreds of thousands of Internet genealogists. "It will be a cold day in Hell before we sell that information to anyone, though. We take the privacy rights of our users *extremely* seriously. Cheers, B."
