I am researching Snows in Lincoln Co. KY. My husbands great grandmother was Savania Belle Snow b.May 1872-Lincoln Co. KY d.- unknown Believe she may have married Willis Green Adams. Don't know anything else. On my husbands grandmothers, Ida Belle Adams, social security application she list her mother as Savania Belle Snow and her father was listed as Joe Adams. But Joel Adams was her grandfather according to the 1900-Pulaski Co. KY census. Ida and a brother, James were living with their widowed grandfather, Joel Marion Adams. The only son of Joels that I haven't accounted for is Willis. So believe he possible is her father. If anyone has any information on this Snow line. Please correspond with us. Ron and Linda Lohrum

Does anyone on the Hubbard list have anything which might connect to this? My thinking is that since Rebeckah Snow & Thomas Force Palmer named their 2nd daughter Lydia Hubbard Palmer, that this could be the maiden name of Rebeckah's mother (Hubbard it is not a Palmer name). Lydia's husband (the father of Rebeckah Snow) might have been Joseph Snow or Samuel Snow or . . . .? We know that Rebeckah had a brother named Samuel Snow, as both families were in Warsaw, Genesee Co. NY census 1820. Also Rebeckah named her first son Joseph, so possibly Joseph was her father's name. Do any of these names mean anything to anyone on the Hubbard list? They then located to western NY: Warsaw, Genesee Co. (today Wyoming Co., which was formed in 1841) where on Aug. 12, 1817 their second child was born, daughter . . . SECOND GENERATION LYDIA HUBBARD PALMER (we know nothing of Rebeckah Snow's parents, and so think that her mother or grandmother might have been a "Lydia Hubbard" . . .? Anyway . . . . Lydia Hubbard Palmer b. Warsaw, NY and she continues the westward treck with her parents to Chatham, Mediana Co., OH by abt 1832, remaining there until about 1842, when her parents move further west to Sugar Grove, Kane Co. IL. In the meantime, on Jun 12, 1839 Lydia marries to ORRIN GRIDLEY. No record of where, but likely Medina Co. OH. Lydia & Orrin locate to Clear Lake, Iowa . . . not sure when, before or after their children? I do not know. Lydia died, likely Clear Lake, IA Dec 22, 1903. The ancestry.com subscription site is offering a one month free trial and if anyone is not familiar with this site - it is the best one I have subscribed to for genealogy research. The web address is: http://www.ancestry.com When you get to the site around the top it says something like "free 30 day trial" all you have to do is click on this and register. I have found that instead of choosing particular databases, just type in the surname (of course if it is SMITH or JONES - you'll get a zillion of them), then you can go back and type in first names or select a state. When I go into the site - I check all the database records shown (especially when an ancestor landed in VA, or NJ then migrated to different states). The site has good information in the Colonial Records database as well as the Hinshaw Quaker records. Just thought I would pass this along as I have no idea how long this offer will be open. On 9 November 1639 he married Abigail Warren, daughter of Mayflower passenger Richard Warren (PCR 1:134). He served on the grand jury and in other public capacities. He moved to Marshfield, and later, on 5 June 1651, he became a freeman (PCR 2:167). He served as a constable for Marshfield and as a Marshfield deputy. He died in August 1692, having made his will 28 December 1685, codicil 8 August 1692, and in it he named his wife Abigail; his son Josias Snow; his daughters Lydia, Sarah, and Alice; his grandson James Ford; his daughter Abigail's children; his granddaughters Hannah and Abigail Ford; his son Josias's wife; and his brother Joseph Warren was to be one of the overseers (MD 5:1). Banks wrote that he was of Hoxton, County Middlesex. He was a Purchaser and was on the 1633 freeman list. On 5 January 1634/35, the servant of Nicholas Snow, unnamed, was willing to serve out his time with John Cooper, according to the terms of the indenture (PCR 1:33). Twyford West, whose indenture had been assigned by Edward Winslow to Nicholas Snow, complained to Winslow that he disliked being with Snow, and on 11 February 1635/36 voluntarily increased his indenture from six to seven years in consideration of Winslow reacquiring his indenture from Snow (PCR 1:37). Snow served as highway surveyor, on the grand jury, and in other similar positions, and as a Purchaser he enjoyed various land grants. On 1 December 1640 he was one of several highway surveyors presented for not mending the highways (PCR 2:5). I was there with Maiser at Indiana University when the lists were killed and was there when Rootsweb saved the lists with resurrection. I've learned through a couple of other lists to which I subscribe that the financial situation with Rootsweb is precarious. Rootsweb is not a "corporate America" operation but a real "mom and pop living above the store" outfit. Mom and Pop support us in our genealogical search, research and networking. Isn't it time we supported Mom and Pop! I wonder how many users of Rootsweb services really understand and fully appreciate what's being done for us at no charge. Although there's no charge that certainly doesn't mean there's no cost. Who pays this cost? It seems no more than 2-4% of the users of Rootsweb services contribute to its operation. I don't see how Karen (Mom) and Brian (Pop) are able to do it. I understand they have just personally borrowed some $25,000.00 to keep Rootsweb operation going for us. It seems we have thousands and thousands dancing but few paying the fiddler. Folks, that's just not right! I have no connection with Rootsweb other than that of a very grateful user of its services who strongly and sincerely believes "if I want to dance you should pay the fiddler." I am looking for information on Charles Colvert Snow, dont know what year he was born, just that he was b. in KY. He married Mary Elizabeth Gibson or Wilson... we are not sure on the last name. They had a son, Ell Johnson Snow, b. Feb.18, 1905 in AR.. d. Sept. 1969 in Modesto, Ca. He married Grace Bonnie Jennings and they had the following children: Lex Aaron b. 1950/51, Mary, Charles, Wesley, and Duke. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I can tell you without reservation that William (cap't Billy) did not have a sister named Martha or Patsy, nor one that was called Patsy.
