    1. [SNOW-L] Fine edition of Snow-Estes Genealogy
    2. Christopher Hartman
    3. 7/13/00 To: Snow Family Membership From: Christopher Hartman Good afternoon. Please pardon the unsolicited posting, but I wanted to mention that I've acquired the following, which I thought the Snow family membership might want to know about. I describe it thus: SNOW, NORA E. The Snow-Estes Ancestry. Volume One: The Snow Family. Volume Two: The Estes Family. [Together, two volumes]. Hillburn, N.Y., [Np., privately printed], 1939. Thick 8vos. Pp. [6], 667; [18], 439. Frontispieces plus 69 fullpage plates, folding genealogical chart mounted to rear paste-down endpaper of volume II, tipped in errata & corrigenda. Expertly rebound in terra-cotta cloth, recent endpapers, black leather labels printed in gilt. Uncut and partially unopened. Fine. First and only edition. The personal copy of the author, Nora E. Snow, with her bookplates on versos of front-free endpapers. Genealogies of this variety were generally privately published for the benefit of subscribers, contributors and genealogical libraries. The Snow family volume commences with the American progenitor, Richard Snow, who settled at Woburn, Mass. in the late 1630s and delineates the family lineage with special attention to the William Payne Family, the Henry Stevens family, and others; the Estes volume makes the connection to the Snow family from the family of Matthew Estes of Dover, N.H. &c. Rare, and a special association. $200.00 This is a very large set, expertly bound and quite rare. As such, I must offer subject to prior sale and if of interest, please advise. With many thanks for your courtesy and consideration, I am, Sincerely, Christopher Hartman Rare Genealogies Post Office Box 991015 Boston, Massachusetts 02199-1015 Tel. 617-266-5790; Fax. 617-266-1089; email: raregenealogies@hotmail.com web: http://www.raregenealogies.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 1. RE: [SNOW-L] William Edmond Snow KY>MO
    2. George Porterfield
    3. What is the source of your information? It matches and conflicts with unconfirmed information that I have. The information that I have shows Edmond/Edward SNOW married to Hannah RIGGS on 9 June 1827, in Boone Co. Missouri. He was 24 (b. 5 Feb 1803), she was only 15 (b. 8 Nov 1811). His place of birth varies based on which census you look at. In 1850 he said he was born in SC. In 1860, he said TN. BTW, Hannah had a brother named Samuel RIGGS. Their children were John Calvin, Louisa Emaline, James R, William A, George S, Henry J, Daniel, Nancy E, Benjamin T, Richard B, and Mary H. That's 11 children. I only have detailed information on John Calvin SNOW. He is my ggg-grandfather. Do you think these may be the same persons/family? Much of my information came second hand from data in the Scotland Co. library; 1830, 1840, 1850 and 1850 Scotland Co. census records; Scotland Co. marriage records and his will. Again these are all second hand. I have seen very little of this data directly myself.
