    1. [SNOW-L] Frost Snow Sr. and Jr.
    2. Ray Isbell
    3. I received this from another researcher: I have Frost Snow, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth BALLARD (married about 1777) had eight children. (Note, Kirk Sheap proved that Elizabeth BALLARD, daughter of John BALLARD born 1720 and Mary Gallard, married Frost Snow Jr. and not his father, who, as you correctly indicated, married Elizabeth JOHNSON, born circa 1738, daughter of John Johnson (b. c1710) and wife Eleanor Davis.) Some people had indicated Frost Jr's wife was Elizabeth Fortner or Faulkner, but that appears to have been wrong. Frost & Snow, Jr. died after Feb 8. 1852 (the date of a codicil to his Will). The Will of Frost Snow, Jr. was probated in the May Term of Court 1852 in Surry Co., NC., Will Book 4, p. 325. [Note: Terms of Court are usually 3 months or 6 months, so he died before October 31, 1852.] I wonder, is Mary Ballard's maiden name Gallard or is that a typo? _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. 1. [SNOW-L] John or Johnson Snow, Roane County, Tennessee
    2. Ray Isbell
    3. Okay, now I'm lost. These records disagree with my lineage, so now I wonder if my lineage is right. I have compared them to the IGI records and they also conflict with mine. All of my information came from other people in the first place, so I don't know which is right. I was told that Frost And Snow Sr. married Elizabeth Johnson (not Ballard), born circa 1738, daughter of John Johnson (b. c1710) and wife Eleanor Davis of Albemarle Co, VA. Was Ballard perhaps a first husband? Further, I was told that their son JOHN was JOHNSON, called JOHN, who came to Roane County, Tennessee and had children Richard, Nancy, and others. Nancy Snow Selvidge/Selvage was my ancestor. I see that John Snow is shown as marrying Frances Easley and remained in Surry Co., N.C. Can anyone straighten this out for me? Who was the John or Johnson Snow of Roane County, Tennessee? 3. Ramona, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to take your g-g-grandfather away from you. I got the information that he was William Snow's son probably 10 years ago from another researcher. I'm sure it was an honest mistake. William probably had a John Snow and somewhere he was mistaken for your John. I have removed all his dates and spouse. 2. A bunch of AR (my line) and TX Snow's came out of a John Snow, who died in 1845 in Meigs Co., TN, which was once part of Rhea Co., TN (<1836), which was part of Rhone Co., TN (<1806). This one was said to have been born between 1780 and 1790 in NC. There's a John listed in the 1840 Meigs Co., TN census as a head of household. There's got be a connection there somewhere. Regards, Phillip Snow McKinney, TX

    3. Beverly, You have my g-g-grandfather, John Snow, mixed in with your family, as a son of your William. He is NOT a son of William. John Snow, born 9 November 1804, Madison County, KY. He married 6 July 1826, Fayette Co., KY to Mary Ann Walker, daughter of Henry Walker. They moved to Clay Co., MO in 1832. He died 22 Feb. 1866 in Cameron, Clinton Co., MO. John Snow was the son of George Snow and Elizabeth Barnes. George Snow died in Estill Co. KY in 1814, and Elizabeth, his wife, died in Fayette Co., KY in 1818. They left four children as orphans. The court records of Fayette and Madison Counties prove the names of the children and parents, when Elizabeth's brother, Moses Barnes is appointed guardian. George Snow's parents were Henry Snow and Elizabeth Gilbert, of Bedford County, VA. I have documents to prove the lineage. He was from New York - his parents were from France as per the 1900 census. It seemed that water from Mr. Roby's farm ran over on to Mr. W. H. Sisson's property and caused a gully through his farm so he and his wife both hid behind a tumble weed and as Mr. Roby plowed his field Mrs. Sissions shot at Mr. Roby but missed and so Mr Sisson shot him in the back paralyzing Mr. Roby. A farm hand placed him on on a buck board and took him home then went for the Sheriff. Mr. Roby died the next afternoon. Mr. Session's was sentenced to life in the Yuma penitentiary on May 26, 1905. On May 27 1910 Mr. Session's was released on a Writ of Habeas Corpus Issued by Chief Justice Kent. After a showing of new evidence, Governor Slone commuted the sentence to ten years to be served out at the new prison in Florence. But his attorney said that Mr. Sissons never entered a plea of guilty or not guilty. This was made known to Judge Kent who held the trial irregular and nullified, and set him at liberty. Even though he confessed to the murder. The story was carried in 'The Graham Guardian' news paper of Safford Graham Co. Arizona. Does any one know who John P. SNOW was or any thing about Mildred Jane Snow or any of her children??? I have heard that two of the Roby daughters commited suicide at a later time while living in Phoenix Arizona. Neither ever married. Thanks in advance, Thelma

    2. Thanks to everyone who replied to the Ohio Snow post. I am wondering if and how they tie in to the Virginia Snow's. My husbands father was the first Snow in that immediate family to go to Cleveland. That was probably around the mid 1900s. 1. [SNOW-L] Snow family in Bracken, Pendleton, Boone Co, KY 1800's
    2. Joyce Pinson
    3. Hello, It has been some time since I posted, and since our family is "stuck" with William Snow 1801 who married (Nancy) Anna McPherson daughter of McPherson and Waters, I hate to trouble those of you who have made it back to the Mayflower. Maybe I'll make it there someday...LOL. William Snow 1801 is suppose to be from NC. He appears in the Pendleton/Bracken County, Ky areas in the early 1800's and meanders through Northern Ky, Southern Oh and Indiana. There is some circumstantial evidence he may be a son of James found in Lincoln County Ky...or not? John G. Snow is found with William Snow 1801 and his son, Isaac Newton Snow in Bracken County. Cannot identify John G. Snow, but he may be the son of Robert Snow and Elenor Butts (Botts?) found in Boone Co, KY. Surnames most associated with "my" KY line include Cooper, Hayden, McPherson, Waters, Jordan, Donovan, Holt, and Shawhan. There are some suspected ties to my line in Boone County which may include Lancaster, Boothe, Glackin, Hoggins, Botts, Butts, and Lampton. Recently, an area known as "The Snow Pond" was graced with an historical marker in Boone County, KY. The Snow Pond was site of encampment for both Confederate and Union troops...and there is a recorded Civil War skirmish there. If anyone has ties to these families, would be most interested in comparing notes. Joyce

    1. [SNOW-L] Ralph and Thankful SNOW - MA - PA
    2. John E. Davis
    3. I am seeking any information about the family of Ralph and Thankful SNOW. Ralph SNOW (1784 - 1830's) md. Thankful SNOW (1787-1840's), daughter of Nathan and Thankful (Pettibone) SNOW, in Becket, MA Apr 5, 1808. Believe they had at least six children (3 daus, 3 sons). They inherited land in Pennsylvania from Nathan SNOW (died 1835), but they may have already moved to Venango Township, Crawford Co., PA. Thankful SNOW was sister of Letitia SNOW who married Austin DAVIS (my ancestors) in Becket, MA. Would appreciate any additional info about the Ralph and Thankful SNOW family. John Davis

My dad knew all of them well but he died in 1989. Back then I guess I didn't think any of this was important . Now I wish I could remember it all. Daddy always took me to dances at Berryville. He came home on the week-ends from working in Wichita Kans and we went to dances in Eureka Springs and Berryville. These Snows lived in Harrison, which is Boone Co. None of them went to school with me except Shirley who was a daughter of Robert Lee Snow. She had some brothers but they were not the ones who played music. I believe those were Sam Snows boys.
