    1. [SNOW-L] Snows in Tennessee
    2. Patti Evans
    3. Is anyone researching Snows from Tennessee?

    1. [SNOW-L] McCoon, Hubbard, Allen, Snow, Palmer
    2. My ancestor, Rebeckah Snow was born at Providence RI on Oct. 1, 1790 (d. 1854 IL). Her father may have been Joseph Snow, likely b. ca. 1765 +/- She probably had a brother Samuel Snow. Sometime before 1815 her family may have moved to Galway NY or vicinity, and she was married May 30, 1815 at Broadalbin, NY to Thomas F. Palmer. Their five children were named: Margaret McCoon Palmer (1816-1834) never m. Lydia Hubbard Palmer (1817-1903) m. Orrin Gridley Joseph Snow Palmer (1819-1892) m. Cynthia Parker Chloe Allen Palmer (1825-1894) m. Noah Post Ephraim Milo Palmer (1828-1892) m. Sarah Butler Only the last, Ephraim, has a name on the husbands side. So I surmise that the names of her three daughters must have been on Rebeckah's mothers side; possibly her mother or either/both of her grandmothers. 1820 census, Warsaw, Genessee Co., NY Rebeckah and her husband and small children are listed next door to Samuel Snow, also with wife and small children. Anyone on the list have anything which might connect to the above? Peter Burrows, Annapolis, MD

    3. Peter Burrows, Annapolis, MD, Check the Snow line below. The first two generations needs more work to verify what we have. Note that my ancestors, James Ingalls and Malinda Snow, had a Lydia. Not a lot to go on, because Lydia was a common name then. Also, you did not have a William or Sarah in your line. What proof do you have that Rebeckah Snow. was b. Providence RI Oct 1, 1790? 1. [SNOW-L] Mayflower - Bradford, Palmer, Snow
    2. Dear Friends . . . Am reviewing some back notes and I wanted to get caught up with you. I am desc. from Gov Wm Bradford > Major Wm & his bro Joseph > their sons Israel & Elisha (1st cousins) > their children, 2nd cousins Joshua Bradford who marr. Hannah Bradford > had Joseph Bradford m. Abigail Starling > Huldah Bradford m. Benjamin Butler > Capt. Ebenezer C. Butler > Sarah Butler M. Ephraim Palmer (1828-1892) > he is my g. gf. John Tallman is desc. from the second wife of Gov. Wm. from Bradford, Alice Carpenter, via her 1st husband, Edw. Southworth. John also relates to me his Snow connection of Abigail Carey, her husband John field, his parents, etc. back to Peter Browne. Much good research, and congrats to all J In edition to my Bradford connection outlined above, I also go back to some Snow’s in Providence . . . but as Ernie well knows, I am seriously stuck. Ephraim M. Palmer (1828-1892 see below) line goes back to Lt. William Palmer, who the books say was 4 when he came on the Fortune in 1621 with his father William, mother Frances, and two siblings. Ephraim’s parents were: Thomas Force Palmer (1787 NJ -1865 IL) son of Ephraim Palmer (1760-1852) & Margaret Force. TFP marr. May 30, 1815 at Broadalbin, Montgomery Co.(1838 became Fulton Co.), NY to: Rebeckah Snow. b. Providence RI Oct 1, 1790; d. Oct 26, 1854, IL. Rebeckah is a complete dead end for me, in spite of a visit to the Providence RI historical society, inquiries to Gary Boyd Roberts at NEGHS, etc, and many years on the Snow surname list. My daughter’s name is Rebeckah Snow Burrows! It hasn’t helped! L I am hoping maybe you or others in the Mayflower group can help. The only other clues which I have are: In 1820 TFP and his wife Rebeckah lived Warsaw, Genessee Co., NY (1841 became Wyoming Co.) with small children. The next census line below lists Samuel Snow! Wife and small children. I think that this Samuel must be her brother. So I have been looking for a Snow family with at least two children, a Rebeckah b. 1790 Providence, and a Samuel, prob. also b. Providence about the same time. And of course possibly other children born around the same time and place. TFP and Rebeckah named their daughters oddly I think . . . Margaret McCoon Palmer (1816-1834) never m. Lydia Hubbard Palmer (1817-1903) m. Orrin Gridley Joseph Snow Palmer (1819-1892) m. Cynthia Parker Chloe Allen Palmer (1825-1894) m. Noah Post Ephraim Milo Palmer (1828-1892) m. Sarah Butler (see her line to Gov Bradford above) Only child of Eph. & Sarah was my g.f., Walter Butler Palmer. Except for Ephraim, these names do not connect in any way to the Palmer side, and I have to think that they are Rebeckah’s ancestors. Likely her father was a Joseph Palmer, and her mother and possibly two grand mothers the women’s names. Only conjecture, and I have found nothing to lead me to draw a firm conclusion. I believe there is a Joseph Palmer at Galway, NY in the 1810 census. I need to look for this again, but think that I thought at one time he should be Rebeckah’s father. Galway is quite close to where she was married in 1815, Broadalbin. Further thoughts are most welcome. Does anyone researching Snow see these names anywhere? Any other helpful ideas would be greatly appreciated. Peter Burrows, Annapolis, MD

    1. [SNOW-L] Trip to Salt Lake City
    2. Wayne Campbell
    3. I have a wonderful opportunity to spend a week in Salt Lake City next month and I'm not sure of the best way to spend my time, genealogy wise. I plan to spend 3-4 days in the LDS library, etc. What are my first steps once I get there, where do I go first, is there a "process" that one goes through, are there eating establishments close by, what should one take with them as far as personal records are concerned, are there written/un-written rules, do/don't do items for using the library? As you can see there are lots of questions. Can you supply some of the answers? Any advice, recommendations, answers, etc. will be most appreciated because I want to make the most of the short time that I will be there. Thanks much, Wayne Campbell --- James Campbell --- waynpegg@earthlink.net --- EarthLink: It's your Internet.

    3. Wayne, The first thing I would suggest is to go to the LDS website: http://www.familysearch.com There are several tabs at the top of the page, click on the one that says "Library" .It will take you to all the information about the Salt Lake City Library. On the left is places you can click on and it will tell you different information about visiting the Library. There are two different buildings you will want to visit. The main one that is called the Family History Center and the other is the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. The Family History Center is where the Country, State, and County books are and also film and microfiche. Information about other countries are there also. There is a map of the building so you will know where everything is before you get there. Joseph Smith Memorial Building is where all the group sheets and pedigree sheets are kept that people have sent in, also the books that have been written about family histories. You can be there for a month and still not get to everything, so it helps if you have a plan before you visit. You will not have time to do everything you have planned so do the most important first. I tried to research the books because some of them are not on film or microfiche. You can always order the film and microfiche from a local Center. Take lots of change with you. You can get rolls of money at the help desk but sometimes there is a big line. You can only copy 5 pages at a time at the copying machines so be organized and have your pages book marked. If there is just one or two pages from a book that you want copied wait until you have two or three books and take them to the machines all together. At times there is quite a line at the coping machines. And as always there are some people that won't follow the rules and stand there and copy way more pages then five. If it gets to bad you might have to tell the helpers. I carried a fanny pack with a coin purse inside so I wouldn't have to keep getting into my purse, of course you will not have that problem. :-) Hope this helps and good luck, Bev ----- Original Message ----- From: Wayne Campbell <waynpegg@earthlink.net> To: <SNOW-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, April 17, 2001 9:53 AM Subject: [SNOW-L] Trip to Salt Lake City > I have a wonderful opportunity to spend a week in Salt Lake > City next month and I'm not sure of the best way to spend my time, genealogy > wise. > > I plan to spend 3-4 days in the LDS library, etc. What > are my first steps once I get there, where do I go first, is there a "process" > that one goes through, are there eating establishments close by, what should one > take with them as far as personal records are concerned, are there > written/un-written rules, do/don't do items for using the library? 3. Hi, I am looking for any information on SNOW families who moved from Maine to Oswego Co., NY, in the 1800s, in addition to SNOW families in Oswego Co., New York. According to his death certificate, my ancestor, Hazen SNOW, was born in Portland, Maine, in 1810. He is in Oswego County, New York, by 1840 or 1841. He married Sarah MOON and had the following known children: Horace F. Snow (1840-1919) George Snow (1843-?) Julian Snow (1848-?) Linden W. Snow (1853-1920) Annitta (adopted) (1855-?) He married, second, around 1873, Mercy ____. Hazen died in East Palermo, Oswego Co., NY on 22 Sep 1887. In 1841, Hazen SNOW sold property to Thomas SNOW, and in 1861, he sold property to Isaac SNOW. In the 1850 Census, a Hiram SNOW (ae 19) appears in the same household as Hazen (ae 40). Relationship to and among these individuals is unknown. I have additional details on this family and would be glad to share them with interested researchers. Kim
