    3. I'm looking for any information on a David Snow. All I have on him is that he was married to Florence Eva Ford about 1900 in Melrose, Fl. He died in 1905 in Arcadia, Fl. He's buried in Joshua Creek Cemetery Arcadia, DeSoto Co. Fl. I believe his father's name was William David Snow and that he lived in the Melrose, Fl. area. David and Florence had two children: Benjamin Franklin Snow dob April 23, 1903 Brownsville, Fl. dod October 27, 1976 in Arcadia, DeSoto Co. Fl. Buried at Joshua Creek Cemetery. Leon William Snow dob October 31, 1904 dod January 17, 1906 in Arcadia, DeSoto Co. Fl. Any information would be helpful. Thank you Sharon White

    3. Hi Laurie, You don't know me, but I am descended from a Snow family on my mothers' side. I am 72 years old, and my parents are gone, so I don't have much info and probably none that would pertain to your family, but I just saw Sally Snow's Name and that was my grandmothers' name (Maiden name) her parents were Ely and Julie Snow, whose parents (hers) Williamson's but I don't know first names and they were from the Carolinas farther back and Al. Ely's parents were Jeff and Lucinda Sweatman Snow. Ever since I was born in 1929 they lived in or around Alcorn CO. MS That's where my mother was born. And my elder brother. I was born in Tippah CO. Ms and since seventeen lived in and around Dallas TX. I live in Garland (suburb) of Dallas since 1963. If you find anything that would remotely relate to my family, please let me know. I never knew much about them because we moved to TN when I was one, then to AR when I was 13 and TX ever since, so I have not been able to keep up with them. I would go to the Library more and look under their names and Counties, but had an accident eight months ago that's left me not able to do a lot of things I love doing. I hope you find who you're looking for. My memory isn't good enough anymore to dig deep! Take care. Pearlie Duncan Walker wildfern@home.com P.S I never got to see my grandmother Sally Snow Mullins, because she died when Mama was 5 months pregnant with me. I have always missed her so much. Everyone who knew her said she was like a Saint. She visited and helped some family who had T B and contacted it herself and died at about age 47. Buried at Bethlehem Cemetery in Alcorn Co MS just out of Corinth MS and just off Hwy 72. I hope I have been some help to you. 1. [SNOW-L] John Snow and Sarah (Jackson?)
    2. Ray Isbell
    3. In a recent post on the Snow List I mentioned that Sarah, wife of John Snow (c1717-1784) of Albemarle CO., VA., was a Jackson. She is shown as Sarah Jackson here: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=mikesmom&id=I0173 http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=koathout&id=I294 The first one includes no sources but the second one shows Sarah Jackson (b. c1721) in Albemarle County, Virginia, married c1740 in ORANGE County, Virginia and the two sources were: (1) Ancestral File, Ver. 4.18 (LDS Church); and (2) Albemarle County, Virginia Marriages (1780-1853) by John Vogt & T. William Kethley Jr. (Repository: Mount Vernon Library). A very thorough researcher emailed me the following: I checked out those web sites and I do have that 3 volume set on Albemarle County marriages. Unfortunately it begins in 1780, far later than the marriage of John Snow of Buck Mountain (father of Frost & Snow, Sr.) and Sarah. In fact, I could not find any mention in that source of any marriage of John Snow to Sarah Jackson. remember that Albemarle County was not formed until 1744 and the Buck Mountain section was actually part of Louisa County until 1761. John Snow did not move to Buck Mountain until ca. 1740 and I can find no mention of his marriage in Orange County, where he lived before then and where the land he sold in 1740 mentions Sarah as yielding her dower rights to that land. One of these days we just may find out her maiden name but I think, as of now, the Jackson connection must be highly suspect. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

    1. Re: [SNOW-L] Snows in Tennessee
    2. Rancher
    3. We have an un connected William Snow in Lewis County Washington in the 1889 Census. Washington Territory became a State in November of 1889 so a Census was performed that year. William Snow was 16 years old, single and born in Tennessee. As far as we can determine he is from another Snow family. The part of our family that moved to Washington Territory left Morgan County, TN about 1887. They are listed in this Census too. They are down line from James and Cassia Snow. James, born about 1801, is the son of Ebenezer and Sally Snow. This William being un connected may just mean he was of another Snow family. It also could be a relative who traveled with them, on his own and we have not connected him. Ebenezer and Sally Snow also lived in Warren and or Smith County which is west of Morgan and Roane. That part of Warren and or Smith County became DeKalb. Ebenezer's brothers were in DeKalb too. There was a Joseph and a William and a John. Since Ebenezer was the oldest of the brothers he had a son also named William about 8 years younger than his brother. Sometimes Ebenezer's son, William was called Junior to differentiate between the elder and the younger men named William. I'm in Tennessee and researching some of the Snows from here. My Snows apparently came from North Carolina, through Georgia, settled in Middle Tennessee, then moved to West Tennessee in the mid-1800's. Oral family history says some later moved to TX and one family to Washington State. I would assume some later moved to a lot of places. I have seen many references to Snows from East TN, especially Roane County. I'm new to family research and haven't gone back very far, so I don't know if and how my line may be related to those. 2. In a message dated 4/19/01 4:43:31 PM Eastern Daylight Time, Granmma writes: > How sure are you of these dates? First off, I am virtually dead certain that my dates are corect. Everything that I have ever seen for Rebeckah shows her birth date at Oct 1, 1790, Providence RI. Her marriage at May 30, 1815, Broadalbin, NY, her death as Oct 26, 1854. The "things" are . . . A family history written about 1900-1925 by her grandson, who was a prolific writer and family historian; could have been wrong of course. A couple of different County histories, pulb. 1870's, one being Medina Co. OH where they lived in the 1830, another being LaSalle Co. IL where she died. Her Illinois gravestone says Rebeckah S. Palmer and giuves dates. She is buried next to her husband who lived until 1865, and he donated land from his farm for the cemetery. I suspect the dates are right. Also they agree with the census that I have seen and given the birth years of her children, which are firm, 1790 makes sense. So I am virtually absolutely certain the dates are proper . . . I have not however ever found a birth record, a marriage license, or a death certificate, but her life spanned a time which preceeded most of the types of documents. Still I think that the family you sight must be very close, if not the one. I would like to persue these things further with you. See what else you have. I will be away until Apr 24, so after that is good. The Jos. Snow b. 1715 & Rebecca Grant could be grandparents. Followed by Samuel Snow b. 1758 as her father. Who did Samuel marry? What are names of his wife's family? What were names of Samuel's children and their birth dates? Certainy S. b. 1758 would be right to have children b. ca. 1790's. Let me know what else you have; others on the list as well. Thanks, Peter Burrows, Annapolis, MD

    1. [SNOW-L] Snows in Georgia
    2. Is anyone working the Snows in Georgia from the late 1890's to 1910? I have two Snow children adopted (brother and sister). I am trying to find biological parents. They were living in an orphanage in Atlanta called "The Home For the Friendless" sometime between birth in1898 and adopted out around 1904 -1910 to Thomas Frederick Rainey, Jr. of Ellaville, Ga. and show up living with him on the 1910 Census, Schley Co. Thomas Frederick Rainey was in the Ga. Legislature. ANYTHING would be appreciated Thanks, Linda Snow Davis
