Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/FaIBAIB/58.1388.1 Message Board Post: Hi there, I just saw your posting today. I am trying to find out if there is a link between Nicholas Snow and Richard Snow son of Patrick Snow son of Richard Snow. I am also trying to prove that Nicholas came from Holland not England on the Anne. I am also trying to find siblings of Nicholas, his father and grandfather. Would you have any of this information? I would also be interested in any information you do have on the Snow line. I am a decendant of Nicholas Snow and Constance Hopkins through my mother. Their daughter Constance Snow is my 8x great grandmother. You may email me direct at kisanth202@aol.com. Thanks Dawn

    1. Re: [SNOW] SNOW, REBECKAH RI 1790 - IL 1854.
    2. Just subscribed, so I hope I am not butting in. I am researching Elizabeth SNOW (b. 6 Nov 1769 in ?) She married Peter JENISON on 4 Feb 1790 in Ashford MA. Peter was born in Oxford MA on 27 Mar 1771 and died 22 Apr 1848 in Gainesville NY (not far from Warsaw). Elizabeth died in Gainesville NY 4 Apr 1861. Elizabeth's father was Oliver SNOW (b. 28 Aug 1721 in Woburn MA); mother, Elizabeth PHILLIPS (b.3 Feb 1728 in Woodstock, Windham CT). Children I have so far: Polly JENISON, in my direct line, b 13 Oct 1795 in Charlton MA. Married Dan MARTIN in Gainesville NY. She died in Lundy's Lane, Erie Co. PA 30 Nov 1871. Peter and Elizabeth had a son, Reuben, born 24 Mar 1807 in Tyringham, Berkshire Co. MA. He died 20 Feb 1890 in North Gainesville NY Oliver's father was Samuel SNOW, b 24 Aug 1692 in Woburn, Middlesex MA. I don't vouch for any of the above. Would appreciate any corrections and guidance. Also, can Elizabeth be tied to Rebeckah? I know families tended to migrate westward together and I connected Warsaw with the MARTIN family which Elizabeth was married into. In many cases I see people marrying people who lived near their relatives. Where in IL did Rebeckah live and die? Thank you. Jim Minnery, Elyria OH

I cannot specifically comment on her notes, but as long time lists members will recall, I continue to see information about REBECKAH SNOW. She is name sake of our daughter, and was my grandfather's grandmother. Beyond that I know little, most particularly names and info of her parents is unknown. Additional details are: Rebeckah Snow was born at Providence RI on Oct. 1, 1790 (d. 1854 IL). Her father may have been Joseph Snow, likely b. ca. 1765 +/- She probably had a brother Samuel Snow. Sometime before 1815 her family moved to Galway NY or vicinity, and she was married May 30, 1815 at Broadalbin, NY to Thomas F. Palmer (1787-1865) Their five children were all b. NY: Margaret McCoon Palmer (1816-1834) never m. Lydia Hubbard Palmer (1817-1903) m. Orrin Gridley Joseph Snow Palmer (1819-1892) m. Cynthia Parker Chloe Allen Palmer (1825-1894) m. Noah Post Ephraim Milo Palmer (1828-1892) m. Sarah Butler Only the last, Ephraim, has a Palmer related name on the husbands side. So I surmise that the names of her 1st son, and three daughters must have been on Rebeckah's parent's side; possibly her mother or either/both of her grandmothers, etc. 1820 census, Warsaw, Genessee Co., NY Rebeckah and her husband and small children are listed next door to Samuel Snow, also with wife and small children. Anyone on the list have anything which might connect to the above? Peter Burrows, Annapolis, MD

    3. Posted on http://www.rootsweb.com/~txfannin/s112.html (Fannin Co. TX page) From the book "Biographical Souvenir of the State of Texas," 1889, pp. 780-781: D. W. Snow, M.D., is one of Rockwall's oldest practitioners, having been on active professional duty for more than thirty years. His father, Levi R. Snow, came of English parentage. He was born and reared in Surrey County, North Carolina, and served in the War of 1812, and in the Seminole War of 1835-1836; then moved into Middle Tennessee at an early day, and was on the present site of Nashville when that was only a "landing place" on the river. He traversed a great portion of Williamson, Rutherford, and Davidson counties when they were an uninhabited wilderness. He finally located in Weakley county, and lived there until some time in the sixties, when he moved to Texas, locating in Kaufman county, where he lived in 1868, being then in his seventy-seventh year. He was a farmer all his life, and had been reasonably successful. His wife, Abigail Bodine, was of French extraction, his ancestors settling on the French Broad River in East Tennessee at an early day. She was born there and died in Weakley county, Tennessee, in 1864, the mother of the following children -- Sallie, Caroline, Joseph B., Henry J., Martha A., Daniel Webb, William F., and Lycurgus. Daniel Webb Snow was born in Middle Tennessee May 19, 1831, and was three years old when his parents settled in Weakley county, where he was reared. He came to Texas in 1856 and settled in Kaufman county, read medicine and entered the practice, continuing at it successfully and actively for more than thirty years. He was married in May, 1861, to Louisa Penry, of North Carolina. She died some years after, and he married in May, 1867, Miss Selina Snow Burton, of Mississippi. Dan Page dpage@ipa.net

    3. hi, Snow researchers, I need help! I found a marriage record in Dallas Co., Tx in 1853 for Eleanor OTWELL and William J. SNOW. Eleanor was the sister of my John R. OTWELL. I know her mother was Elizabeth, but I can find no record that PROVES my suspicion that her father was Joshua OTWELL. This dilemma is driving me CRAZY!! I know a lot about the ancestry of Joshua OTWELL, but I can't confirm this link to my John R, Eleanor, etc. Can ANYONE help me with this puzzle? I'd appreciate any and all clues! Sharon Stephens
