Baxter Co., AR. Wife: Emma "Emmie" F. Murphy Smothers. born: 1870. died: 11 Mar, 1932, Springfield, MO. bur: Faiurview Cem, Baxter Xo., AR. Emma's Father, Berry Frank Murphy-1841-1920. Children: Jessie, Maude, "Fate" perhaps "Lafayette", Tressie, Grover G.,- 1896-1925, Clarence R. "Dick", 1896-1973, Bruxie 1907-1973 and last Bessie. Grover, Clarence and Bruxie, are buried at the Fairview Cemetery, Buford, Baxter Co., AR. The following is copied from  The Baxter Bulletin, December 27, 1951 Issue. (Arkansas)                             JAMES FRANKLIN SMOTHERS     Funeral services for James Franklin Smothers, 90, a pioneer citizen of Baxter County, will be held at the Fairview Church today at 3 P.M., with the Rev. Guy Hopper officiating. burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, arrangements under the direction of the Roller Funeral Home.    Mr Smothers died Sunday at his home Buford, Arkansas. He as born in Baxter County  December 20, 1861.    Survivors include three sons; Clarence and Bruxie of Buford, and Milard of San Bernardino, California. Three daughters; Mrs John Kelly, and Mrs Ernest Sullivan of Springfield, MO and Mrs Clarence Whiteman of Kansas City, a brother Geogre Smothers of Tulsa, Oklahoma,  ten grandchildren and five great grand children. Date of death: December 23, 1951. I believe that Milard is Willard LafaytteSmothers. Jessie married Clarence Whiteman Maude married, John Kelley. Tressie married, Mr Stovall. Burie married, Marie ?.
