Sam Smothers was in Jail in Decaturville from July 9 to July 26 in 1891 at a cost of .40 cents per day. Decaturville records show also that he married Nannie Burns on December 21, 1893. I'm pretty sure Sam was related to my gmother Amanda R. Smothers, bn in 1859 in Tn, probably in Decatur Co. She attended school in her 11th year (in Decatur Co.) which is different for that County.
