Jan, Green B. Smothers was born 1 May 1826 the fifth child of John and Rebecca Smothers, both of whom were born in North Carolina. Green B. Smothers married Martha Pinkston on 22 October 1845 in Carroll County, TN. They had children: 1. Francis Jordan Smothers born 7 August 1846, who married Martha A. Hatley on 29 August 1867 in Benton County, TN. Francis J. died 18 January 1929 and buried in the Liberty Cemetery in Benton County, TN. 2. Mary "Polly" A. Smothers born in 1848 and married Carroll Barnes. 3. Caroline Smothers born in 1849 and married John P. Barnes. 4. Zachary (or George) Taylor Smothers born 23 June 1851, married Sarah Emely Oatsfall on 10 October 1875 in Benton County, TN and died 3 February 1907 in Carroll County, TN. 5. John Green Smothers born 3 February 1852, married H.A. Kirk on 16 October 1881 in Benton County, TN and died 24 February, buried in Liberty Cemetery, Benton County, TN, 6. B. Franklin Smothers , no information. 7. Martha J. Smothers born 22 November 1856 and died 5 March 1861, buried in the Antioch Cemetery, Carroll County, TN. Green B. Smothers died 7 April 1856 and buried in the Antioch Cemetery in Carroll County, TN. Martha Pinkston was born 1 April 1830 and after Greene B. Smothers died she married Benjamin Blakley on 10 March 1861. They had children: 1. James Blakley born 4 February 1862 and died 22 August 1893, buried in the Antioch Cemetery, Carroll County, TN. 2. Sallie E. Blakley born in 1865. Martha (Pinkston - Smothers) Blakley died 17 August 1900 and buried in the Antioch Cemetery, Carroll County, TN. Also Benjamin Blakley, but have no dates.
