Karen, I have to begin by apologizing. The 'Cantrell' I know about is William Clarke Quantrill. He was the night rider, murderer ex confederate who led a group men during the Civil War and wrecked havoc in Missouri and especially Lawrence, Kansas. But one action I know about is when Quantrill led his 100 = men to a small central Missouri town called Centralia. It is half way begtween Kansas City & St Louis & on the main like of the rr. Quantrill & his men stopped a west bound train that had 40 + Union stldiers on it going on leave. He marched them into the fields close by Centralia and killed them. The only survivor was a guy named Tom Goodman who later wrote abook about the incedent. There are many books on Quantrill. I should have remembered it was not Cantrill. Sorry. Tom Goodman
