    1. NA passing for Negro
    2. Nena Smothers
    3. From another List but seemed interesting enough to pass on when searching census. Did also find something else interesting. Sometimes if you can't find a ancestor on a regular census, look on the Slave census, thats how cuz and I found a brother to our ggg grandfather as he owned some slaves. also try this...the M in Smeathers was upside down and he was listed as SWEATHERS...so something else to think about...happy hunting~~Nena....How did the REUNION go all that went??? was born and lived in There is where I lose him. My belief is that his mother and or father were at least part Native American. I believe was dark enough that he could pass for white, so is listed as Negro on the 1880 Census. This was common during that period, as after the Civil War, Negroes were able to travel, acquire land etc. Native Americans could not. There were restrictions on the movement of Native Americans. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
