Trempealeau Co., WI, ELK CREEK - Located in the Township of Hale, this area was named in 1842 by William B. Bunnell and William Smothers who hunted here. The valley of Elk Creek is also known as Pleasant Valley. PIGEON - A township in the mideast portion of the county, it was named after Pigeon Creek. William B. Bunnell and William Smothers saw great flocks of wild passenger pigeons roosting along the creek while on a hunting trip.
