    3. How wonderful that you stumbled onto your Smith family. That gives me renewed hope! In my Smiths from Union Co PA, Noah Smith was born 14 June 1824 or 1825 in Prestlow, Union Co., PA. Now there is no Prestlow anyplace in that county or in the whole state of PA. Prestlow comes from one of three obits for Noah who reportedly left Union County when he was 14 years of age or 1840, BUT at least by 1850 when he is living in Stephenson Co Illinois with a Barber family. Noah had a brother, John born about 1823. John was in Sandusky Co Ohio for a period of time before moving to Stephenson Co IL and then Green Co Wisconsin. John had a son, Charles Milton Smith. Noah had a son, Charles Smith who tragically died at age 14. I wonder if there is some connection since Noah and Charles are both well used names. Noah bn 1824 0 1825 and his brother, John, born 1823's father was Michael Smith. This is family tradition, it is entered into a church book, and John remarried in 1885 and he lists Mical and Elisabeth Smith as his parents. (Mical is how it was spelled on the marriage papers). Mical/ Michael and Elisabeth had to have been born by 1800 to have children in 1823, 24, 25. It is possible that your Smiths and my Smiths were simply fond of the names Noah and Charles OR they may be related in some way. I will relook at Smith records I've collected for Untion Co PA and let you know if I find any that might be of interest to you. If you know "beyond Charles", I may be able to help on the Smith side. My gggrandmother was Sophia Smith Wittenmeyer (1823-1901). Her brother was Noah Smith (1836-1921), father of Laura Ellen (Smith) Smith (1864-1945) of Derry Twp, Mifflin County (who married Jacob O. Smith) and grandfather of a Charles Smith.
