Smith, whose career began as an assistant surgeon at Fort Bayard NM. He married Mary Alice Kennon in Sante Fe in the 1860s or 1870s, moved to NY for awhile, was superintendent of the State Mental Hospital at Fulton, MO, and ended up in Grants Pass. He is buried in the Masonic IOOF cemetery, listed as born in 1843-1914. If any of this rings a bell contact me.
