SMITH 60, of East Main Rd. Brocton, NY died Thursday night (Dec 11, 1980) in Veterans Admin. Hospital, Buffalo, NY. He was born July 23, 1920 in Bear Lake, PA, the son of the late Joseph & Jessie LEWIS SMITH. A resident of Brocton for 32 years, he had formerly lived in Dunkirk. SMITH retired in 1973 as a welder for Kraft Foods, Inc., Dunkirk, & was also a former Employee of ALCO of Dunkirk. A veteran of WWII serving with the US Marine Corps in the Pacific theater, he was a member of John W. Dill Post, American Legion, Brocton, Westfield VFW, Loyal Order of Moose, Westfield, & was founder of the Brocton Booster Club. Smith was affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America in the Brocton-Portland area for many years. Surviving are 2 sons, Roger SMITH of Fredonia & Timothy SMITH of Brocton; 4 daughters, Linda SCOTT, Terrie ALTWIES, Cathy EHMKE & Barbara SMITH, all of Brocton; 6 grandchildren; 6 brothers, Elton SMITH of Findley lake, Claude SMITH of Ripley, Donald SMITH of Hartfield, Richard SMITH of Westfield & Everett SMITH of Ripley & Edwin SMITH of Conneaut, OH; & 4 sisters, Gertrude SCHROPP & Edna RAYNOR both of Westfield, Edith CARTER of Clymer, & Doris EVANS of Ripley. He was preceded in death by a brother, Floyd SMITH & 2 sisters, Agnes nelson & Bernice HASKINS.
