Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. The Rev. Brian Kottas will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Cecile Goldie Strong was born Oct. 3, 1902, at Aurora to Thomas and Katherine [Nichols] Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Strong, on March 4, 1965. Survivors include her grandchildren, Alan Strong of Pawnee City, Darla Svoboda of Aurora, Cheryl L. Smith of Gothenburg, Calvin Strong of Aurora and Karen S. Auch of Papillion; 12 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Strong was raised in Aurora and worked in the family-owned restaurant and was a telephone operator until 1925. She married Kenneth Strong on July 8, 1922, in Aurora. Cecile and her husband had a child, Deryl E. Strong. She was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, and cherished by all of them. She was an avid reader of scripture and faithful to prayer and her devotion to the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son and daughter-in-law, and ten siblings. ____________________
