Will try again, James was born in 1805, in Ohio and in1820 I have found a James Smith b. 1777--Va. Married to a Elizabth, who had passed away leaving minor children Sally and Martin {under 14} James went to court to keep custody of them. and this James also had a brother William who had also passed away leaving his estate to James children. I beleive that this is the father of My James T. and that is where he got the first money for land was from his uncle William. My James named his first son William. James T. Married Spicy Jane Dougherty in 1836 and in 1860 they had moved to Il. and they had a boy {not theirs} staying with them going to school, aged 13, named Joseph who census lists as born in KY. In Union Co, Ky. there is a Caswell Smith born in 1804 who is listed with a son James T. and he also lists the same names for his daughters as My James T. did . Would like information descandents of Sally, Martin and also Caswell Smith. Any and all help appriciated Mary Lou
