James T. Smith was born 1805, Felicity, Ohio I beleive his father was James Smith born in Va. in 1777, m. to Elizabeth ?. In 1825 in Ind. James Sr. was in court to establish custody of his minor children, Sally and Martin {who were under 14 yr.} also listed was a Hanna & Anna. Elizabeth had died at this time. James Sr. also had a brother William who had died also. William left his estate to James children. I dont know what part of Va. they came from. In 1835 James Sr. remarried Elizabeth Allgood. In that same year James T. m. Spicy Jane Dougherty. they were living on a 80 A. peice of land James owned, In 1860 they were living in Ill. and had a boy named Joseph living with them Joseph listed as 13 yr. and b. in Ky. On the 1850 census there in Union Ky listed a Caswell Smith b. 1804 has a son 3yr. J. T. also his dughters have same Initals as James T.'s.
