Old Pendleton would make sense as the area of South Carolina they were from -- others in DeKalb Co also came from what is now Anderson Co. SC The Samuel McElroy/Mary Stevenson line that was in DeKalb (and I suspect related to the McElroys who married into the Smith family) were originally Prince Edward Co. VA - then to Waxhaw Settlement then to Old Pendleton and then to GA 1820's. Thanks! LaVerne
