    3. Yes, the name is common but the knick name is very different , I am 62 and I never heard that one , so now you can know that you have some hope . I would make that an important part of ever one I turn to for info . 3 yrs is not a long time to be looking , there are many who have looked even longer but that don't mean you will . Just a hunch , have you checked at the hospital where you were born to see if they have any records there ? The Navy is a great place to look , check online for Navy records online. Do you have your birth certificate ? Is he on it ? I am the kind of person who will try any port in a storm so what about telephone listings in each state . Making a letter and sending it to every Smith that give's an address and put at the top his Knick name . Make a ton of copies at a cheap place , 1 pay 5 cents a copy . Yes the stamps a expensive but just send as you can afford . It come's as a shock to many people but there are a lot of people out there that do not have computer's then of course no email list . You need to reach them . I think they have the telephone white pages online . It could work you might reach a relative of his . You may have tried all this but just in case you didn't , hope it helps . Happy Hunting , don't get down , take one day at a time . Minnie Ann
