I am not sure if this has been posted to the Rootsweb SMITH List or not - but I wanted to make sure that all of the cousins and researchers that had worked with Charles knew about his passing. I know that I will miss him. His last email to me was in August of 2005. I recall he used to sign his emails "I'm about as organized as a chickenhouse full of chickens". I hope someone will make good use of the valuable research he has left behind. (This was passed on to me from another researcher).
