They moved to Illinois as that was where my GGrandmother was born in 1861. I have seen so many different spellings of Vannosdall but that was how it was spelled in the 1870 Illinois census. I was hoping I could get some info re: Sherman Smith because his wife's name is so different. Many thanks, Kris
Hi Celia, Thank you for your responce . No , my Smith's all stayed in CT and RI . Have a great day . Minnie Ann
Hello All, I want first to let all those searching in the New Haven County area to know that they now have Mailing lists at Roots-L for Branford and Guilford . I also would like to ask everyone if they would please put any tidbits of Smith information that they find in the CT area on the Smith-L and D list . One person found a tombstone inscription and put that on the list and if everyone did that kind of thing , I would have a chance of finding out about the 4 Smith line's in my family . I have so little info on them , I don't know anything on a couple of them . Just the name of the woman they married . They are all from CT . Bert Smith , I don't know what the long version of his name would be . He married a Sally of Branford , 1940's or 50's . Wesley [Red] Smith , married Geneva of Branford same dates , [Skip] Smith , married , Gertrude , Raymond Smith of Mystic , married Doris all in the 40's and 50's . I do have a little more info . What ever you put on the list will not only help me but other's also. Thank You So Much Minnie Ann

Hello Adam , well it looks to me like you have a lot to work with . Did you already get their birth and death certificates ? Do you live in the same area as they , if so you could go to the town hall or call and ask for help looking up or having them look up the information on them and just make a regular copy very cheap . I need to know that before I can say more . Do you have marriage information ? Did you join the Quinn list ? Are you on the Quinn-L-request@rootsweb.com . not sure if there is a Quinn one but its worth checking out . Any port in a storm as they say . Hope you don't mind all the question's but that is how we learn . Have a nice day , Minnie Ann

In Martin's History of Chester, County and Family Histories of PA: Daniel Smith enetered at an early age the counting house of Francis Gurney of Phila., who was engaged in West India trade and remained there until he came of age. about 1776....He later joined a regiment commanded by his old friend and employer Col. In 1943 we moved from Seattle to Fair Oaks, which isn't that far from SF. My Mother was a writer and an artist as well. My Uncle taught at UCBerkeley, so we were in SF fairly often. Another Uncle was an Architect and another a writer, so there is a chance they knew each other in that circle of friends... These pictures all have views of buildings depicting interesting architecture. Was he a well known architect? Could you send me a copy of the article? send to rkladykris@aol.com I'll scan the pictures for you, maybe you'll recognize them... I wanted to find a home for them, sure didn't think I'd find someone so soon- if at all!. Cheers! Kris

He was also an architect, writer and artist. I'm trying to send you a copy of an article that mentions E. Sewall Smith. What to you want to know?
