    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VJIBAEB/28270 Message Board Post: I am searching for the children of Leon Byron Smith, Jr. b. 1922, in Orange County California. He and his first wife were highschool sweethearts in Orange County California. Leon was in WWII and when he returned, the marriage had trouble. One day Rose took the kids and never returned. We have tried for years to locate these children. We aren't even sure if they continue to use the Smith surname. We think Rose may have remarried and had the children use the name of a stepfather. If anyone knows the whereabouts of these Smith children they have a large loving family who misses them. Please contact me. 1. LEON BYRON3 SMITH, JR. was born 22 May 1922 in California, and died 12 Jul 1993 in Las Vegas, NV. His first wife was ROSE DYKES. She was born Abt. 1922 in California. The lost Children of LEON SMITH and ROSE DYKES are: i. GARY LEE4 SMITH, b. 13 Sep 1941, Orange County, California. ii. LARRY CLINTON SMITH, b. 24 May 1943, Kern County, California. iii. FRANK JAMES "RICKY" SMITH, b. 04 Dec 1944, Kern County, California. iv. SHIRLEY JO SMITH, b. 30 Mar 1946, Los Angeles County, California.

    3. I am looking for some of my Smith family that was from PA. about that same time period. Theodore William Smith was my g-grandfather. Said to be born in Chambersburg, Franklin, PA. I dont know his birth date, but his oldest son was born in 1861. Figuring 20 - 25 years earlier, he would have been born about 1836-41. Hope this connects to your family, have been looking for them for soooo long. Thanks, Bob Ortman. ----- Original Message ----- From: <kendree57@juno.com> To: <SMITH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 26, 2006 7:33 PM Subject: [SMITH] William Smith b 1839 in Lycoming County, Pa. > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VJIBAEB/28269 > > Message Board Post: > > Looking for info on Smith's from this area > > > ==== SMITH Mailing List ==== > NOTICE: Posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political > announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, > etc. (in other words - spam) is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. > Consideration for exceptions, contact Kathleen Burnett kathleenburnett@earthlink.net >

The original pioneer families of the First District of Williamson County include: Sullivan, Green, Stinson, Barnhill, Bradford, Beard, Walker, White, Oliphant, Carter, Duncan, Bryant, Overbey, Buttrey, Daugherty, Lampley, Jones, King, Givens, Pewit, Smith, Harrison, Hughes, Mangrum, Hall, Lankford, and Tidwell--to name a few. His Virginia born father was John Smith (how lucky can I get?).. I have wondered if ggg grandfather John Smith's father was named Samuel, since that was often the naming pattern. The only thing is, I don't know where my John was born in Virginia. My Samuel was b. in OH.. and some of his siblings and kids were born in KY. The family finally settled in Izard Co. ARK. My Samuel's daughter, Mary Ann, was b. in MO (???). She eventually moved to Miller Co. MO where she married William Wilson Sloan. This couple were my g grandparents. Ellie S.
