I forgot to check this board. I would love to see a picture of Hannah. Interesting that your great great grandfather Joel named his one son Frederick (my great grandfather's name) and my great grandfather Frederick named one of his sons Joel. Unfortunately, Joel accidentally drowned as a young man. It's good to meet a cousin. Thanks for your info. If you want to know anything more about our New York Smiths, let me know. Nancy

Hey Ellie, What were the dates for your John and Samuel Smith? Which part of VA were they from? We both have Klingensmiths and John Smiths. I don't know who my John Smith's parents or siblings were. John Smith and Katy Gooden/Gooding/Goodwin were the parents of my Benjamin Smith. Benjamin (b. 1818) married Jane Stitt (b. 1832) whose mother was -- you guessed it -- Elizabeth Klingensmith (b. 1811). A Samuel Smith who was married to my Jane Stitt's sister moved (from PA) to Brown County IN when she and Benjamin did and lived next door to them. Benjamin's parents were John Smith and Katy Gooden/Gooding/Goodwin.) I'm told that particular Samuel moved to OR though, as did some of my indirect Stitts and died there. I'm told that Elizabeth Klingensmith Stitt went to OR with her son, but I've not been able to locate a grave for her. His Virginia born father was John Smith (how lucky can I get?).. I have wondered if ggg grandfather John Smith's father was named Samuel, since that was often the naming pattern. The only thing is, I don't know where my John was born in Virginia. My Samuel was b. in OH.. and some of his siblings and kids were born in KY. The family finally settled in Izard Co. ARK. My Samuel's daughter, Mary Ann, was b. in MO (???). She eventually moved to Miller Co. MO where she married William Wilson Sloan. This couple were my g grandparents. My David was born in Scranton in July 1850 and, I have now discovered, was the youngest of 7 children of William and Mary Smith, both born in Aberdare, Wales. None of the children are named Wellington. So sorry. It is a difficult if not impossible name to research. You have to be SOOOO careful, but I would have thought 'Wellington' would be helpful. I can tell you that "Mary Smith" was a REAL challenge! Good luck in your searching. Kind regards, Jeanne
