    3. Hi PA, Afraid I can't help you with your Samuel but you might hear of some information on my Samuel Smith who was born ca. 1803 in Montgomery Co. Ky. His father took him with two other sons, William and John, all between the ages of 4 and 8 years old, and joined the Ohio Shakers in their colony at Lebanon, Ohio. At about thae age of 25 Samuel left the Shakers having become disenchanted with them. I think he may have returned to Ky. where his mother , Polly, and his two brothers were. His father, James Smith Jr. stayed with the Shakers until he died in 1858. He was the son of Col. James Smith, the old captive of the Indians and Rev. War soldier. I have written a book about this man and his adventuresome life. Best regards and let me hear if you think there might be a connection . Tom P. 3. Sorry but I don't think I have any names from Ga. -- My roots are first Pa. then Ky. Then Ind. and now I'm here in Dixon, IL but I was born and raised in Ky. and graduated from U of K. I'm a direct descendant of Col. James Smith from Pa. who was a captive, fought in the Rev. and explored Ky. and Tenn. I have recently published a book about him. 2. I read your message, and I was just wondering if you had any male's born after 1900 that you DO NOT have death dates on, approxmatly about 1912, I am working on a Family Tree Album and I'm searching for the parents of my father, he could have changed his name, in 1920 Census he would be about 8 years old. If you have a male in that age range WITH OUT a death date please let me know, Thank You for your time, Loretta

If you'll give me details on your earliest known family group, I'll do a look at the census records - maybe you've over looked a clue. What counties in Georgia and Alabama have you heard mentioned? Have you tried starting with the 1930 census and working backwards in time? My GA Smiths probably came from PA to Knox Co., TN; then to Cherokee Co.., AL by 1840, then into Chatooga Co., GA by 1850. My great grandfather and his father were both named John Smith - almost like not having a name. But I found my gg gf SMITH ,and, my gg gm Smith's earlier McCoy and Borden lines are well traced. My DNA indicates my patrilineal Smiths probably came from NW Germany. Regards to all, Theron Smith.

The Smith link is one of the last one's I have yet to connect. My grandmother, Gladys Ruth Watson married Tom Herbert Smith in 1946. Grandpa Smith was the son of Josephine Ayers, Smith, Wheelock, Lusk (it might go Wheelock, Smith too, not sure but Ayers was her maiden name and Lusk was her name at death) and Herbert Smith. We know NOTHING about Herbert Smith. Grandpa was born in Chattanooga Tennesee and ended up in WNY. He died in June of 1986 after fathering 6 (that we know of) kids, the youngest being my mom. Supposidely, he had a sister at one time. We don't know how old (younger or older then him we don't know), we don't know who her father was. All we know is the story that she died in a house fire. But again, we don't know where. (Though some seem to think it was Mayville, New York.) Grandpa died when I was six. And from what I'm told he wouldn't talk about it anyway, nor did he talk about his mother much, who died in 1985. So if any of these people or events seem familiar to you, please let me know! I have been searching, without any sort of discoveries I'm afraid.
