I wasn't able to find this information. I have the basic membership though. It's a good chance that it is our Herbert Smith, as my grandfather Tom Smith dabbled with photography. He had his own darkroom, I even have some of his pictures. It seems it runs in the blood, as I took it in highschool and college and loved it. Thanks you, so much. It's information I can work with, perhaps I can find more.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/VJIBAEB/28386.1 Message Board Post: Your Harriet Smith was born about 1831, not 1820. The older children of Seba Bronson and Harriet Smith were born in Ohio. So, I looked for them in Ohio in 1850. Living with Seba and Harriet in that census was Clarissa Bronson <1777>, who was born in Conn. This is probably Seba's mother. Based on the 1850 census, birthplaces given and proximity to a relative (cousin I believe) of Seba's named Ransom Bronson, my best bet for the parents of Harriet are Leonard <1801> and Eliza [?] <1806> Smith who were living in Columbia, Loraine, OH in 1850. Leonard and Eliza were both born in New York, as were all of their children. By 1870 Leonard and Eliza show up in Clinton Co, MI. Eliza died there, acording to the Michigan Gendis, on 02 Aug 1871. Names of her parents weren't given, unfortunately. After Eliza's death Leonard married Sarah Eliza Harris, widow of Jacob Sharp in Clinton Co. Not much, I know, but maybe it will help. Debby

Looks like your Smith line is definitely from this area. I traced a bit of it back to hopefully look for a connection, but didn't find one yet. Anyways, I have provided what I found, mostly on Herbert since that is where you said you had no info. Thanks for responding, hope this helps you!!! In the 1930 Fed census, Thomas H. Smith, b. 1924 - 1925 is listed. Parents are Herbert M. (b. approx 1867 in NY) and Josephine Smith. They lived at 172 S. Erie Street, Mayville, NY. Rented from and lived with Ira and Lina Davis. 1920 Fed Census shows Herbert M. (b. approx 1868 in NY) and Anna Smith. Herbet was a photographer and Anna owned a restaurant. They rented and lived on Erie St in Mayville, NY. 1920 Fed Census show once again Herbert M. and Anna Smith on Eire St. Looks like Mayville wasn't chartered yet and the town name at this time is Charlotte, NY. Herbert is once again listed as a Photographer. 1900 Fed Census shows Herbert M. and Mandy M. Smith (Maybe this is Anna?) in Mayville, NY. Listed as town of Chautauqua. Herbert's birth shows, May 1868 and Mandy April, 1875. They were married approx 1896. 1880 Fed Census shows Herbert M Smith, b. approx 1868 in NY. Parents are Nelson, b. approx 1840 in NY and Emma M. Smith, b. approx. 1848 in NY. They lived in Yorkshhire Center, Cattaraugus county, NY. Nelson was the enumerator of this census. 1870 Fed Census, there is a Herbert Smith b. approx 1866 listed with Ira and Agnes Smith. they lived in Poland, NY in Chautauqua county. There are 4 other children listed. Not sure if this fits for you.
