Philip and Mary Elizabeth. Yes we are Catholic. I want so badly to go there. I went to Prince Edward Island and looked into their Archives and found a bundle of information I needed. I'm sure James P. had brothers and sisters and his death certificate says his father was Philip. I think there is a Michael, John ,Patrick, etc.as brothers. They left in about 1849-1850

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VJIBAEB/28535 Message Board Post: Elihu Smith, b:1801 of Wolford, Grenville, Ont, Canada, son of Humphry Smith and Lurena Vaughn. According to the 1804 census of Wolford, Elihu Smith is 3 years old and therefore could not have a birth date of 1795 as stated on many family trees on the ancestry website. His brothers and sisters birth years tend to be accurate, as the majority were born in the 1790's. There is an Elihu Smith, b: 1823 of Wolford, Grenville, Ont and many family trees have mixed up this Elihu with the Elihu Smith, b: 1801. Elihu Smith, born: 1823 had two wives, Julia Ann Rose and Barbara Soper (nee unknown) Elihu Smith and Julia Ann Rose, both of Wolford, were married on Oct 9, 1843 by Rev. James Brennan. In the Van Dusen Cemetery between Smith's Falls and Merrickville are grave markers for Elihu Smith and his wife Julia Ann. The first marker is for Julia Ann, wife of Elihu Smith died June 7, 1871, aged 49 years and the second is for Elihu Smith, died Dec 24, 1882. h/o Julia, according to the grave marker. Another grave marker in Wolford Rural Cemetery reads “Barbara, wife of Elihue Smith July 27 1840 – Jan 11, 1912”. According to the 1881 Canada Census, Elihu Smith, age: 58, wife Barbara Smith, age: 40 and Barbara's daughter, Ida Jane Soper, age: 17 are residing in the same place. Barbara Soper is listed in the 1871 Canada Census. So Elihu Smith, b: 1801 is not the husband of Julia Ann Rose or Barbara Soper. If anyone has more info: regarding the two Elihu Smiths I would love to hear from them.

William's wife, Bertha, and all but the youngest of his children were born in Ohio. In 1850 an Ann Ody <1785> is listed with John, likely to be his mother. John consistently lists his birthplace as England, But a person, Edwin Ody, who is probably his brother always lists his place of birth as Wales. Ann Ody was born in England, Sarah Ody in PA. In 1880 John Ody is listed in the Allegheny County Home suffering from asthma, probably Black Lung Disease from working in the coal mines. It is likely that he died there. I can't reliably place Joseph Smith prior to 1880. I hope this helps. Debby
