    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Smith, Londers, Spivey, Slaughter, Martin, Pepper, Lane, Rhode, Galovic Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VJIBAEB/24528.2 Message Board Post: Hi Jerrie, It looks like a lot of people robbed your thread and didn't help you at all. Sorry to see that happen, but I think I can offer some help. Issac Smith and Geogre Washington (GW) Smith are my 4th and 3rd Ggrandfathers, respectively, and I have been researching them and their families theses past twenty years. First, I'd like to say that although I believe Isaac's middle initial may have been T (proabaly Thomas, like one of his sons), I have never found any evidence to prove it. Isaac's wife was Sara Rebecca Londers, but she evidently went by Rebecca rather than Sara. She is listed in an old Smith Bible record that presumably was passed down to GW Smith and then eventually to Coye Smith Barnett. I have no idea where the Bible is now, as Coye was rather aged in 1970 when I recieved that information from her. That same Bible record lists Isaac's father as Robert Smith and his mother as Edy (no maiden name was listed, unfortunately). This is what I have for his family: Isaac Smith (son of Robert Smith and Edy _____ from an old Smith family bible) b 17 May 1786 in North Carolina (some sources say South Carolina) Married Rebecca (b 24 March, 1787) about 1801/02 Children: 1) Elizabeth b 25 February 1803 in NC or SC. 2) Mary Ann b 15 January 1807 in NC or SC 3) Robert W. b 15 March 1809 in SC d 12 May 1842 4) Issac T. b ___ in SC d circa 1811 (When this son was born, his father was dubbed with the moniker, "Old Isaac," even though he was only about 25 years old. 5) Adaline Temperance b 22 April 1820 probbly in Georgia 6) John J. b circa 1821/22 in Georgia 7) George Washington b 12 August 1825 in South Carolina (The family was in Georgia at the time of his birth. However, according to the Coosa County Census in 1850 he was born in SC. They may have been close to the State line and Rebecca may have been visiting family in SC when he was born. I have not figured out this puzzle yet.) 8) Benjamin Franklin b circa 1821/22 (family tradition says he was a slaver :( 9) Andrew Jackson b circa 1831 in Lowndes County, Alabama (probably near Benton). It took creating a timeline for Old Isaac to find this birthplace, as I have found no records about Andrew's birth. Although, I have seen a post that indicated Andrew was born in Talladega County, I don't find any migration to that county and the family was in Lowndes County from at least 17 October 1822 until late 1836 or early 1837 when, according to the spring issue of the Alabama Historical Quarterly of 1942, Old Isaac moved them to Coosa County for a short time.) 10) Clara Jane (no DoB as yet) 11) Lousia (no DoB as yet) All of Isaac's daughters, except Adaline Temperance, perceeded him in death as did his sons Isaac T. and Robert W. As for, GW Smith, he married Mary Ann Spivey on or about 19 January 1843, which is the date of their marriage license, and they produced ten children. 1) Primus b. Circa 1842 Coosa County, Alabama 2) Laura Etta b. 26 Oct 1843 Alabama 3) Martha Elizabeth b. 02 Feb 1848 4) Mary Francis b. 03 Nov 1847 5) Benjamin Addison b. 1850 (my GGgrandfather) 6) Alabama b. Circa 1854 7) George Washington, Jr b. 12 Apr 1857 8) Sally Ann b. 05 May 1859 9) Robert Willis b. 04 Oct 1863 (I believe this son was named after his uncle, as their is another Robert Willis in the family, as well.) 10) Payton Lowman b. 09 Jun 1866 I hope some of this helps. I have a lot more that I can share with you, as well, if you would care to correspond via email - wylloweepinleaf@hotmail.com.

    1. Charles W. Smith, 1900, Kenton County Ky
    2. I am looking for Charles W. Smith in 1900 Kenton County Ky. He married Hattie L. Davis in 1892 in Hamilton County Ohio. They had a son James R. Smith in 1894. In 1900 I find Hattie working in the home of Joseph Fennell in Kenton County Ky as a cook. Says she had been married for 8 years and has 1 child. But I cannot find Charles or James anywhere. By 1908 Hattie remarried to George Usborne and it says that she was widowed. So apparently Charles died between 1900 and 1908. I do not have his date of birth or parents. Can anyone out there help me with this one. Thanks Rose

" Far as we know, Captain Smith had no offspring. However, last I heard, Eleanor Rosalyn SMITH [yes!] CARTER, wife of the former president, had traced her patrilineal SMITH lineage to a brother or first cousin of the Captain. FWIW, I think Mrs. Carter and I may be related on her SMITH line through a SMITH ancestor of my maternal grandmother. Son-of-a-gun, I may be related to the Captain myself! Oddly enough, I had given more thought to being related to Mrs. Carter. I need to get an update on her Smith lineage. Again FWIW, I'm a bona fida double 6th cousin to Mr. Carter through KAY and SEAWRIGHT connections. Actually, my DNA results indicated my patrilineal SMITH ancestors were from NW Germany! Regards to all, Theron Smith
