Minna (Eunice) McKay and James Smith. They had a son Andrew Ambrose 1848-1934. As I research my families widely, both for my own family tree purposes and as a gift to friends and their families, I would really appreciate any family tree and relevant research copies from anyone in any country who is researching the Smith name, or perhaps some leads to already existing websites where this type of information can be found. I do have other Smiths in my family tree and am looking to connect them with others. A very large job indeed, as all Smith researchers will appreciate. If anyone wishes to send me information, either a Gedcom or a file attached to an email would be very welcome. I would be quite happy to send anyone who requests it all the information I have in return. I run Legacy 6 as a genealogy programme on my computer. Thanks for your assistance, everyone.

I have been looking for any information on my grgrgrandfather Jacob Schmidt/Smith, who was born in 1827 in Alsace/Lorraine. I have no idea who his parents were. We were told that he came to America when he was four years old. In 1847, Jacob enlisted in the Mexican War at Brookville, Franklin Co., IN. I have a copy of his discharge papers and he states that he was born in Alsace/Lorraine. I have looked around Brookville for any information on the Schmidt/Smith and there are some buried at Brookville but it seems none connect to my family. In Orange Co., IN there is a marriage license for Jacob Schmidt and Matilda Bundy in 1848. It states the approval of Father but no names. In 1850 Jacob received a land grant for the Mexican War and it was at Bauer, Marion Co., IA. Jacob and Matilda show up in the 1850 census in Marion Co., IA. The Metz and Bauer, who were German families came to America in 1833 and settled in Indiana and then came to Bauer, Marion Co., IA around 1848. I think that Jacob Schmidt is connected to these families and that is why he came to Bauer Marion Co., Iowa. Does anyone have any connection to these families in Dearborn or Franklin Co., IN? Thank you for any help you can give me. Bev Jones

I am hoping that someday I will send a post and someone will be able to provide information on my Maternal - Grandfather. Am searching for information on Edward James Smith. He was married to an Agnes B. (Gerstner) Palmer around 1918 in El Paso, TX. They had three children. Jenevieve (Jenny) b. 1921 in MO, Marrian Ruth b. 1823 in PA or MO, and James Edward Smith Jr. b. 1926. Edward Smith was born in Atlanta GA in 1896, according to his military records. He was sent to Lycoming Co (Williamsport) sometime in his early childhood with what we think was his 5 male siblings. They must have lost their parents as Edward Smith was to live with a Plant/Plount/Plaunt family until he joined the Army in 1814 in Columbus OHio. He was discharged around 1917-18 in Missouri where he met my grandmother, Agnes. A marriage certificate was found in ElPaso, TX where after the birth of her youngest son, Edward Jr was born......Edward Sr deserted the family...leaving Agnes very ill and unable to care for herself. The last time he was seen by my mother it was around 1940-41. She said he remarried some woman from Colorado (she worked for the Post Office perhaps in Colorado Springs area). Could not find him anywhere...but from military records I learned he died in August 1952. Didn't say where? If anyone can provide more information I would truely appreciate the help.
