I found some old paintings of his, original and very good. Two are signed E. Sewall Smith, the other two he left the E. off. My mother (Phyllis Erlin Kaiser) took Art Classes in Seattle Washington and the Chicago Art Institute. I have her Art portfolio with her art from the early to mid 1930's. I found the Sewall Art among her's. They are of the same style as many of hers, the picture painted in the middle of the art paper, leaving a wide border around it. If anyone has any information on this person, please email me: rkladykris@aol.com Thank you, Kris PS.. I'm not related

I am looking for ancestors of my Grandmother's side. Her name is Allie L. (Smith) Walker, and her father was Sylvanius (Sylvester) Davidson Smith, also known as "Pard" or "Vet", who married Maude, but I don't have her maiden name right now. Sylvanius was born in 1880, in Randolph county, IN, then moved to AR later, and back to Indiana, where I believe he died. I don't have certificates for anything on him, or his parents. Sylvanius' father was David R. Smith, and his wife was Amelia (spelling?). My grandmother wrote 4 books about the family's travels as she remembers them, but there is no other documentation. I would like to go back further, and was hoping to get some help from someone on this list. I am not sure if this has been posted to the Rootsweb SMITH List or not - but I wanted to make sure that all of the cousins and researchers that had worked with Charles knew about his passing. I know that I will miss him. His last email to me was in August of 2005. I recall he used to sign his emails "I'm about as organized as a chickenhouse full of chickens". I hope someone will make good use of the valuable research he has left behind. (This was passed on to me from another researcher). Charles Clarence Miller, Jr. <bonedigger@highstream.net>, For many of you that has done research in the upstate SC/GA and western NC most likely have run into him as he is kin to almost all of us somewhere. The only marriage license that I found in Indiana was for a Jacob Schmid/Smith in 1848 and Matilda Bundy. In the 1850 census of Marion Co., IA Jacob and Matilda with Matilda born in IN. Jacob enlisted in the Mexican War at Brookville, IN. In 1854, Jacob married Emerinthia Ohnemus in Keokuk Co., IA. I have a copy of the pension Jacob's widow (Emerinthia Ohnemus) received. I can not find anymore about Matilda and what happened to her. Judi Hamm Johns - Do you have any information where a Jacob shows up in your records? I still think that Jacob Schmidt/Schmidt/Smith lived with his parents in Franklin, Dearborn or Orange Counties, Indiana. Thank you for any information that you can give me. Bev Jones
