The furthest I can go back is a John Smart born around 1720 married to a lady Elizabeth, died in Mason County, KY in 1791. Had sons James (b. 1752) and Richard (b. 1754 who married Betsy Pullen), daughters Elizabeth (b. 1760) married Henry Clift, Eleanor (b. 1756) married to a Mr. Berry, Jane (b. 1758) married to Richard Pemberton, and an unknown who married a man named Peck having a son John Peck (b. 1770). I have done long hours of searching trying to locate where John Smart comes from and if I can tie him into any other existing families, but I am at a dead end. I know that I am going to have to travel to Virginia and Kentucky for they had been in the area of Franklin, Kenton, Campbell, Bourbon, and Mason counties for a very long time (probably the same area with county boundaries changing).
