Grover Cleveland became a popular name, because of President Grover Cleveland (and many of the Smarts were Democrats during this time) The Grover Cleveland Smart that Phil, Patricia, Bill, and myself are related to: was the son of "Josie Smart". Mary Josephine "Josie" Smart Tesseneer, was the daughter of William Gettys Smart (and thus also the grand daughter of Joseph "Hiram" Smart). "Garney" is buried at Union Baptist Church in Polkville, NC.
