Even though your post is from 2009, thought I'd try contacting you to see if I'm related in anyway through my maternal grandmother, Mary Anna Smart. If I've found the correct US Census records for my grandmother's family, then her parents were James & Sallie Smart. Both my grandmother & my great-grandfather were born in Texas and lived mostly in North Texas, which is also where I live. Unfortunately, my grandmother wasn't very close to her family, with the exception of her brother George I believe, so the Smarts were pretty much a mystery to my mom and her brothers, even when they were young children.
