HILTON HEAD ISLAND - Charlotte Smart Hunter, 86, a thirty year resident of Hilton Head Island died Saturday, June 23 at Hilton Head Hospital. Born in Charleston, SC on November 22, 1925 she was the daughter of the late George H. and Minerva Dubose Smart. She graduated from North Charleston High School and St. Francis Xavier Hospital School of Nursing in Charleston. She spent her life always caring for others. After retiring and moving to Hilton Head Island, she continued to care for others through Volunteers in Medicine. She was the loving and devoted wife of Ralph E. Hunter, Sr. for almost 64 years; dearest mother of Donna and Casey; beloved Mama of Jay, Ryan, Dana and Traci; dearest Mama of Kimbel, Charlie and Quinn. Also survived by special loved ones, son-in-law Jack and son's fiance; Susan and sisters Alice Hallmark and Lillian Graham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 28 at 1 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church, Hilton Head Island. Inurnment will be held Saturday, June 30 at 1 PM at Carolina Memorial Gardens in Charleston, SC.
