I have researched the Gloucestershire side of things and together with your input can only assume Daniel Smart family were from Smarts in Wiltshire*, it remains a mystery why they are in Winchcombe at this time as they move back to Wilts (possibly as early as 1819) and remain in the Trowbridge area (at least from 1841 census onwards). His son William Smart is in Somerset by mid 1830's but his sister Mary Ann I am unable to locate a death or marriage for. *I have a Daniel Smart born in Atworth Wiltshire to John and Eliza Smart who marries a Mary Ann Waddhams.
