Hi Bill, I have seen some books on the Smart's but mostly those of Penobscot County but they all seemed to have come from Rockingham County, NH early 1800's. Somerset County is hard to find much info other then reading the Town Orders from the different towns which you have to read page by page and the writing is not real clear BUT if your ancestors came from Somerset County it's a great read. I myself enjoy checking the land records and that is how I found my Smart's came from NH. Is your Schultz/Smart line on Ancestry? I couldn't find it. Do you have Smart's in Somerset County? A fellow named Ken Stewart wrote a book titled The Lancaster genealogy that has a chapter on the SMART family. I called Ken and his wife told me that he doesn't have any books for sale. Do you, by chance have a copy of this book? There is an even better known 6 volume collection called Penobscot Pioneers by a guy named Gray. Volume 1 deaks with the Smart family and 2 other families. Keep you eyes out for these books and maybe it will help with your research and please let me know if you find them. Thanks!
