Hello, You don't happen to know who the parents were of your William Snr, do you. I have a gap of about 9 years in my Smart family. The parents John and mgt married in 1800, and I can't find any children to them until 1809. As John's father was a William, I am guessing that the first born son would/should be a William. The area is good. Glenda Aust
Hi, other researchers and I have corresponded greatly about the father of William Crawford Smart who was born about 1824. A lot of deductive reasoning, pointed to the father of our William as being Moses Smart from Halifax VA. But, I had a great uncle that said that William Crawford and Brothers came from Ireland. He could have been all wrong, or maybe it was William's ancesters that were from Ireland, which wouldn't fit the Moses Crawford from Halifax, unless much further back in time. There were several reasons that we thought Moses must be our Williams father, but no actual proof such as birth certificate to link them. Where was your John located?
