Southern Historical Press, c1984. reports the following on page 115. 24 June 1819?. Recorded, Jan. Court 1819. I, JOSEPH SMART, Sr. being in perfect mind and memory. I give unto my wife, ELIZABETH SMART, 100 acres of land where I formerly live during her life time or widowhood. Reserving 20 acres of said tract to my son, JOSEPH SMART, which is the old improvement part of the tract, Also I give to my wife 5 head cattle, all household furniture. I give unto son, THOMAS SMART, 184 acres of land where I now live. I give to my dtr. 5 shillings. I give to my son JOHN SMART 5 shillings. I give to my dtr. DICEA BURNS one cow & calf. I give to my grandchild, after my wife's death, RACHEL BROOKS one cow & calf. I give to my three sons all my tools, viz. JOSEPH, WM., & THOMAS SMART. Signed: JOSEPH X SMART. Could this be the Joseph Smart who is the son of the Joseph Smart and Margaret White who migrated to Rutherford Co., NC in 1760?
