He was born 12 Aug 1849 in Okolona, AR, and died 1919 in Clark County, AR. I would like a more exact death date and also the place of his burial. He lived all of his life in Clark County. I can't imagine that he and his wife would have been buried anywhere else. **Please note birth/death dates; this is not the same person as the one with a memorial at Find a Grave, born 1909.** William married Matilda H. DAVIS on 19 Aug 1877 in Okolona, AR. She was born about 1851 in Georgia. Some researchers provide her death date erroneously as about 1893. She disappeared from census records in 1900 (William even being listed as a widower, in fact), but was back in William's household, alive and well, by 1910. So, she did not die before 1910. I am seeking parentage and detailed birth, death, and burial information. William and Matilda had eight children, five of which survived to adulthood. I need help with just one of them (see #3 below). 1. Elizabeth "Lizzie" A. Smart (1878-1970), never married. 2. Maria Alabama "Mary Bamma" Smart (1882-1936), m. James R. Spradlin. 3. Katie Matilda Smart (1886-c. 1950), m1. Marshall "Marsh" Rowe, possibly m2. Thomas Terry. I am seeking death date and burial place, also confirmation of second marriage (must have been after 1940 census if it really occurred). 4. Kalie Rachel Smart (1886-1973), twin to Katie, m. Othor Alexander Hardin. 5. James Uriah Smart (1891-1957), m. Clemie Lena Wingfield. Hi there I've been doing research into the Smart family in Scotland for a friend. The name Alexander does appear in the family, but I have not found any mention of an Isabelle Martin. Alexander Smart was the son of James Smart and Jean Anderson. He was born on 23 September 1832 in Brechin, Angus. It is possible that there is a side line that I haven't investigated yet, so I'll keep my eyes open for an Isabelle Martin. My uncle, Lon Penson Smart, Jr., was born in Colorado City, Mitchell County, Texas in 1916. He was the son of Lon Penson Smart and Lela Naul Smart. If either of you run across anything in Mitchell County on them, I'd appreciate an email. I do not have Belle Smart in my mother's line so you don't need to chase this line if you do find info on them. My grandfather was in Colorado City working the railroad at the time.
