Aged 89 years, 3 months and 25 days. Mrs. Allpress was born in England and her maiden name was Sarah Percival. She came to America in the early fifties and located in Eagle near where John Lane's farm now is. Later the family moved to Mukwonago and thence to Eagle, where they at one time owned the farm now occupied by John T. Buell. From her the family went north to take up a home and there Mrs. Allpress reside until the time of her death. The funeral was held Sunday and her remains were laid to rest beside those of her daughter, Julia, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Allpress was well and favorably known in and around Eagle and her many friends will learn of her death with sorrow. She leaves surviving her four daughters: Mrs. Ellen Howard and Mrs. Frank Smart, Appleton, Minn., Mrs. Lawrence Fardy, Sr., Eagle, and Mrs. Henry Jackson Texas, and two sons, Edward and Albert, besides twenty grand c! hildren and a number of great grand children, all of whom were at her bedside at the time of her death excepting one daughter. I was browsing through some of the threads when I read yours regarding Peter Smart. According to my aunts' research, my great,great,great,great grandfather, Sir Peter Smart was born in England. The Smart family lived in North Umberlandshire(?) near the Scottish border. Peter was barred from royalty because he married a commoner, Mary Cavett. Peter, his wife, and his brother John came to America. There is conflicting information as to where they settled.Some say Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, or Tennessee. I have listed four children born to them: Elitia, Harry, William and Elisha (my great, great, great grandfather. I would love to hear from you and exchange further information. Grasping at straws here....but I have a John Smart in Pennsylvania. He married there in 1811? By 1860 he was in Missouri. I found him in both 1860 and 1870 census in Missouri. I've sure hit a brick wall as to where he came from prior to Penn. or when, or who he belonged to. Write to SSA, under FOIA, and request Lucien Smart's SS5 (long form, not computer printout). I think the cost is still $27 -- it will say on their site. The SS5 will be Lucien Smart's application for social security number and it will include where he was born as well as his parent's names.
