    3. I'm not sure where he first appeared. The three children I have listed for him were all born in Penn. William J. 1823, Nancy Jane 1828, James 1838 I doubt that was all of the children because of the age breaks. In the 1860 census they were in Sullivan, Missouri. By 1870 John and wife Ruth were living with James in Buchanan, Sullivan, Missouri. By 1880 James had moved to Kansas where the last of his 8 children were born, and of course John had died in 1976. William however, was still in Missouri for the 1880 census. Sounds like they don't match up to well? But I'm really grasping for anything on this line. My husband's line comes through James. I wonder if the Ann Carver you mentioned who was born in 1781 could really logically be the wife of Samuel Callow in Andover? According to the census, our Ann Callow in Andover was born abt. 1798 in Abingdon, Berkshire. I know the census can be off, but it was pretty consistent the different years. If Ann Callow of Andover was born 1798, she definitely could not have had a child in 1801. Any thoughts? Are you sure we have the same Ann Callow? Author: kimreeve Surnames: Carver, Corver, Winkworth, Braxton, Smart Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.smart/956.1.1.1.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: According to research done by a distant cousin, Ann Carver (b1781) was the daughter of John Carver (or Corver) and Jane Winkworth. Jane was born in Faccombe in 1758. She and John married on 20 September 1779 in Faccombe. They also had a son, Thomas (1779-1783). Ann had two illegitimate children: Barthia b1801 and Henry b1812. Barthia married Thomas Braxton in 1819 and Henry married Catherine Smart in 1837. There's no father named on Henry's marriage certificate and Barthia's marriage is pre-registration. I was sent a long list of Winkworth descendants who are the direct descendants of Elizabeth Winkworth (b1755 Faccombe), who is supposed to be Jane's sister. However, although I have traced IGI references to the birth of Elizabeth along with five sisters and two brothers, I have not yet found any connection to Jane. She would have to be a twin, because Elizabeth's sister Dinah was also born in 1758. The only IGI reference that I have found to Jane is her marriage to John. It's a pity really because these Winkworth descendants date from the 1700s to the present day, but I've no proof they are related to me (I never had any contact with the person who drew up the list, which came to me via several other people). Such are the frustrations of Genealogy. Regards, Kim Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
