I will read them in great detail. I believe the link to "my girl" (Martha/Patty Smart) is based on court papers/paternity suit. After the death of her first husband George Mace, she is residing in Brenwood, Hampshire. This appears to be her parental residence. Due to the lack of income, the amount of records has been scarce. I am trying to find anything about Sarah Smart who was married to Aaron White 31 Mar 1805 in Readfield Maine. They are both buried in Cross Hill Cemetery in Vassalboro Maine. Sarah died in Vassalboro in 1846 in Vassalboro. Aaron twice more after Sarah's death. Sarah was the mother of at least 6 daughters and no sons. There are other SMARTs buried in the same cemetery but are too young to be her brothers or uncles. They are likely her nephews or grand nephews. Questions: Who were Sarah's parents? Where was she born? Who are her siblings? How is she related to the other Smarts that I see in town records and cemetery records? Thanks Leslie Vaughn

I found the Forest of Dean web site very useful: http://www.forest-of-dean.net/ and have compiled a preliminary list of 18th century Smarts that might be related (i.e. those near the Forest of Dean). These are linked as B, M, and D from: http://www.scholarshome.org.uk/ancestry/gen/smart_gloucs.html I have not done much research in the last 6 months, but an now returning to the task. My ggg grandfather Robert Smart was born in 1791 at Abingdon, Berkshire, son of Richard and Hannah Smart. I am aware Robert had a sibling John born 1797 also at Abingdon. Do you have names and information that makes you feel you could have a connection to Smart's of Abingdon. Best wishes Enid
