    3. Mike, how expensive was it to hire the archive to do this research? Maureen Sullivan Fort Worth, Texas -----Original Message----- From: Mike Fox [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, May 22, 2002 11:38 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Archive in Maribor Been there. Done that. Yes, have an appointment. The nun who helped me spoke Slovene and German. I was fortunate to have along my Slovene cousin who spoke some English. Bring your laptop, but I don't know if you'll get much done. Not only is some of the parish book handwriting bad, but it's written in archaic script in Austrian for the old records. After a couple hours of frustration, I decided to commission the archive to do my research--a wise move. They're slow but the do good work. A couple of months after I got home, an envelope showed up with just what I needed. Unfortunately, the church records for my grandparent's lineage went back to only 1846.
