I have had a tremendous response to the plight of St. Mary's. I am including a copy of this e-mail to the Waukegan Historical Society, Slovenian Women's Union and Slovenian Genealogy Society International, and Lake County Illinois Genealogy Society representatives who I correspond with. My intent today is to send an e-mail to the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Cemetery Commission about this plight. I compared photos I took last summer to photos I took the other day and there is a lot more damage from last year to this. This includes the hole in the fence. The first who should be responsible for the care of the cemetery should be these groups. I will keep you posted as to any response or feedback I get from them and then we can proceed from there. When I reported my grandfather's brother's buried stones to the office at Northshore Garden Of Memories, they repaired them at no charge. A lot of these people were desecrated once with their move from Olivet to St. Mary's and now it is happening again. The more I think about it the more upset I get. It was bad enough not being able to find the graves of my mom's brother and gr-gr-grandmother last summer, but now as I walked the cemetery more stones have been broken.
